Blancpain Blancpain 35840 wrist watches news:
This year was my very first Baselworld, and it was incredible. Despite being jet-lagged and hungry most of the time, the rush of running around and seeing all the new releases was really invigorating. We met with numerous brands from Rolex to Ressence and everything in between, all with very different offerings. Here are my top five favorite watches from Baselworld 2016. 1. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona In Black 1 OF 6 As much of a predictable cliché as this choice may seem, this watch was truly awesome to behold in person. Literally everyone at Baselworld (okay, maybe not everyone, but the entire HODINKEE team) was talking about this watch. And even though I like to go against the trend, I just couldn't help myself with this one. Both black and white dial versions were shown, but given the choice, I would definitely go for the all-black version with black Cerachrom bezel. It's just a super cool watch and even though it is 40 mm, it wears well on my wrist
There aren’t too many more inherently refined animals in the horological bestiary than monopusher, two-register, column-wheel chronographs. They have a certain archaic fascination – I suppose you could say that about just about any mechanical watch, as far as that goes, but the single-button chronograph is the earliest type of chronograph watch mechanism, and the column wheel the earliest known type of control system for switching on and off, and for reset. 1 OF 6 Vintage monopusher chronographs from major names like Patek Philippe can go for – well, see for yourself; and while there has been a bit of an increase in the number of monopusher chronographs at the less costly end of the spectrum in recent years (not that less than $5 million is setting the bar very high for “less costly”) like this very nice one from IWC that launched this year, they still have a bit of an aura of exclusivity, which, naturally, things like this monopusher rattrap
I have a 1968 Hamilton Odysee 2001 Fontain Bleu that I inherited. It has all original parts, keeps correct time, and is in very good shape. Some scratches on the crystal but seems normal for its age. I've been offered a nice offer but not sure if its accurate.Would anyone out there have a value on this watch?Any help is greatly appreciated
Won this on the bay a few days ago. The dial was in great shape and the 680 movement was still running strong. Unfortunately, the case was toast.I dug up a Black Knight I had won as part of a lot. I hadn't given it much thought since the dial was shot and the case was encrusted in toxic waste level gunk :big grin: I cleaned and buffed it up. Turned out it was in pretty good shape. Not only does it have a nice shine, it had minimal brassing on the tops of the lugs (seems this case was prone to brassing on the lugseveryone I've had just has differing degrees).Dropped the movement into the case and I now have a pretty nice Eldorado. Just as an aside. I can't seem to like the black dial Knight, but I really, really love this tan dial. Therefore, I'm keeping this one. Here's the ad from the 1950s. Note the yellow lizard strap that matched the "lemon" dial. I just ordered a similar strap. Hopefully it looks as good as the combo does in the ad.
