I went to my watchmaker today to get the Omega bumper checked out and the new Watchadoo bracelet put on the OM. He gave the bumper the thumbs up, and agreed it was a redial but doesn't hurt the value of the watch. Apparently these dials were poorly finished to begin with. He was impressed by the Seiko, by the way, and liked the new look. But all of the above has nothing to do with my impulsive purchase recently which the title describes:I just wanted this thing! My watchmaker said that up until this I had done pretty well buying vintage but maybe not so much here. He'll reserve judgement until he sees it in person - these pics were borrowed from the seller. Accuracy of Timex Automatic
About a week ago, I purchased a new Timex T2D951 automatic watch.According to the Timex website, the suggested retail price is $145, but the store had marked it down to $50. After playing with it for a week, I've noticed that it gains anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute each day. I understand that no automatic watch keeps perfect time and that my new Timex is no chronometer, but this seems a little excessive. Is this part of the normal settling-in period, a defective watch, or just the usual accuracy of an automatic in this price range? If it's the last, I suppose I had best go back to quartz watches, since I'd prefer a watch that's at least accurate to about a minute a week without spending a ton of money. Thanks in advance.

Beloved Seamaster Stopped, PO Replacement?
We have a midsize auto Bond Seamaster 300 that suddenly stopped after 18 months with no advance warning. It will have to be sent to one of the dreaded service centers under warranty.I have an opportunity to get a mid-sized Planet Ocean Orange as a replacement for $2,100.00 from Jareds. But the catch is that its pre-owned and you do not get a box or cards, but you do get a one year store warranty.Any thoughts as to this arrangement?
