Daily Wear of an automatic watch
Hi everyone,Thanks to this forum, I have become even more hooked on Omega's and appreciate the advice and insight from everyone. I'm even at the point where I'm still awaiting delivery of my Seamaster 2255.80 and I'm already deciding on what my next piece will be.I'd like to find out whether its better to wear an automatic movement watch daily, as infrequent wearing would lead to regular restarting and resetting; leading to additional wear to the crown and stem, as well as affecting the lubrication of the movement.If any of this is the case, and I intend to wear my new Omega for special occasions, would a winder be necessary? ........athough I'm pretty sure that once I put it on, it will probably never leave my wrist.

Is Seiko Discontinuing the 6R20 Movement ?
I read recently that the new Seiko Premiers no longer have the 6R20 movement, but instead use a new caliber 4R39 with a lower beat frequency (21600 vs. 28800 for the 6R20).Is this correct?Are there any other Seikos which use the 6R20 movement? Or does this mean that the 6R20 movement is now discontinued? I think that would be a crying shame. IMO, the 6R20 is the best value movement Seiko offers. I have had my Seiko Premier Auto for about six months and I wear it more than any other watch I own. In fact, I am wearing it right now. And I own a Credor, a Grand Seiko, a Spring Drive, a two-tone Rolex Datejust, Rolex GMT Master II, a Breitling Super Ocean, an IWC, an Omega Seamaster, and several other watches. This is the first movement I have seen from Seiko that competes with the ETA 2824 from a price/performance standpoint. My Premier can hold its own IMO with mid-level Breitlings and Omegas for a much better price.If Seiko is truly discontinuing this movement, I think it is a go

Show Us Your Black Dials!
You just don't see that many black dialed vintage American watches out there, especially ones that are in good shape. I'm not sure why black was not a popular dial color, but I really like them. They do pop out well on the wrist IMHO. Also, the ones you do see didn't seem to hold-up to well for some reason. I have several, but here is one of my favorites. It's a late 50's Benrus in super clean condition. It's powered by the popular and pretty high end 17 jewel manual wind FE-235 movement, which Benrus also used for their 39 jewel movements and in their chronometer watches. It isn't to fancy looking but the dial really does it for me. The indices, numbers and hands, especially the red second hand, all work really well together and the simple, clean looking 34mm case looks great on the wrist. Antique Mall Treasures and Classic Cars
While vacationing in Lake Geneva WI, me and my uncle went to a Classic Car museum in Volo Illinois. If you can make the drive, I guarantee you won't be dissapointed. They had four large buildings of cars for sale, and also cars on display. Also a military display, and cars used on movie sets. Absolutly incredible. About 350 cars on display. Check out volocars. Attatched was an antique mall where I nosed around and found three goodies. First was a "Lucerne Electra." A neat watch with a nice large white face and easy to read. It runs great so far. A whopping $20.00. Next was a tank style art deco Benrus. A gorgeous white face, sculped WG?? or sterling case, sword hands. This watch was labeled "restored." This was a whopping $125.00. The next one is a 1940's tank style Bulova. gold case, SS back. It needs a new crystal and band. The label said "runs." This was a no brainer at $30.00.
