Have zero experience buying watches. Have my sights set on a 300M GMT. There are no AD's within 200 miles of me so I sent an email to an Omega boutique in Chicago and an AD in Louisville. Both quoted me $4050.00 for the watch. I was thinking that there might be a difference due to the cost of living difference between Chicago and Louisville but apparently not. So I'm assuming $4050.00 is MSRP.Is there a difference between what you can expect for a discount between a boutique and AD?If so where would my time be better spent?thanksSyb

I just like sharp contrast...
when I'm shooting these "floater" shots. Even when using a lot of color, the black backgrounds help pop out the extra details making them more easily discernable. Works very well with black and white also I think. These two seem to illustrate the point fairly well. Shot the black face Navi on Friday, the white Cossie earlier this year. ;) :)Cheers,Ron

Royal Oak 15450ST durability vs Rolex 36 WG Day Date
I've heard that the bezels of the Royal Oaks can be scratch magnets but as compared to the Rolex they are steel as compared to the softer white gold, so I'm thinking the Day date may be just as bad or worse for showing signs of wear after day to day wearing over the course of years. I understand the Day Date has more water resistance but I don't intend to swim or play tennis or golf with the watch on for that matter, so I'm thinking the 50m of the Royal Oak would be sufficient for hand washing, being in the rain, etc.Rolex are known for rock solid construction, are the issues with the crown and stem breaking on Royal Oaks not present in the newer movement of the 15450?Any thoughts on this comparison? Both have beautiful bracelets and the pre-owned market for the 18239 and 15450ST are similar. They both seem pretty versatile for wearing with polo and shorts up to a suit.... I have plenty of other watches (Rolex and Omega) that are more sporty and more casual but I guess I am looking to

Very pleased with my first Panerai
Hot on the heels of the Sub-C and not being one to let the enthusiasm wane, I thought the best follow up would be a Panerai. I have a confession... before I became interested in Rolex I had not registered that Panerai existed! Is this usual.. Yes Patel JLC Omega but for some reason Panerai had never come up.However, after trying on a few at various boutiques in Asia and researching here and other places, the Panerai story is really interesting and I have a soft spot for anything to do with Firenze even though the company is based in Neuchatal Switzerland.How did I decide on the 104? Not an easy thing with all those numbers but the thinking went this way... need a second hand as I like to see something moving, not yet enough budget for an in-house movement, like a date so 104!for the future my research has opened up the possibility of the 233 and 422 as I tried one on in Saigon and loved the power reserve on the back and the Sapphire. So meanwhile here is my J series 2007 Pammy 104 to c
