Bremont ALT1-B2 GMT Chronograph Watch
With April now upon us, we can expect a flood of pre-BaselWorld announcements as brands look to elbow their way into the spotlight of the world-famous watch fair. Bremont, the British watch brand behind such recent hits as the Victory and the Supermarine S2000, have announced two new models including a blue version of their U-2 three-hander and a stealthy new chronograph called the ALT1-B2 GMT.The ALT1-B2 GMT is essentially a civilian version of the watch that Bremont designed in a partnership with a Missouri-based B2 Stealth Bomber crew in 2012 (seen above). The base platform is an ALT1-Z chronograph, with the ALT1-B2 employing the same 43 x 16mm hardened steel case, dial layout and BE54-AE movement. The BE-54AE is Bremont's COSC tested build of the ETA Valjoux 7750 with a GMT module and offers a 12 hour chronograph, a GMT/UTC hand, and a date display at three o'clock. French painter Philippe Burlet knows his way around a brush as well as cars and watches. Burlet's medium of choice is watercolors, which he uses to aptly recreate the essence of sport racing and the watch loving spirit. Although relatively obscure in the United States, Burlet is a favorite among European motor sports enthusiasts, who often commission work from the talented painter.Burlet was not always an artist, but lived a life around automobiles. Somewhere in the mix he developed an eye for watches and seemingly became fascinated by their connection to fine cars. Burlet has a penchant for painting Ferrari cars both new and old. Though he does of course recreate other automobiles in watercolor as well.His art featuring watches portrays them in a larger than life manner, appearing bigger than their accompanying cars. A small Swiss lady...
This turned up in my Mother-in-law's collection the other day. It was her mother's and was given as a courting gift in 1937.It's a rolled gold 'Titan' brand swiss with a mother of peal inlay(?) on the dial. You can see inside the case that it was last serviced in 1942 - wonder if it's due another service? :DUnfortunately the crystal (plastic) is yellowed and crazed, although my watchmaker thinks he might have something to fit (although I doubt it would be worth restoration).The only thing I'm not sure of is why her nickname was 'Flip' and I'm not sure I really want to know.....Anyway, it's a novel piece, probably not much more than sentimental value, but here it is.

I had the pleasure of meeting another WTF member today. He dropped off a watch to sell on consignment through eRelyx.He is one of the nicest guys I have met in a long time. Was very refreshing to meet such a nice, genuine person. Made our day.We assume that everyone on WTF is just as nice! (Sorry for being corny and sentimental! It's important to recognize the good people from time to time!)

AP ROO Safari or Panerai Pam569?
I don't know if I am just getting an itch to get something new but I went to the boutique and tried on the Panerai Pam569. I thought it was just a beautiful watch! It is one of those watches that doesn't photograph well but on the wrist, it's just a different story!So with that being said, I don't want to keep both the AP and Panerai. I want to keep one or the other...I already have the Safari. My question is, would you get rid of it to acquire a 569?I already know what the AP section would say and I am curious to what this forum thinks...TIA.Frank
