As spring approaches, we check out new watches from Panerai, Bovet, Christophe Claret, F.P. Journe and many more. We also find out how time is kept and measured; pay a visit to Roger Smith on the Isle of Man; find out more about the story of one man¡¯s hunt for his grail watch; and get a rare sneak peek into the workshops of one of the biggest brands in the world, Rolex.1. Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM557 Destro 3 Days Watch Hands-On: A Lefty PAM372If you love watches from Panerai, the new PAM 557 Destro 3 Days Watch should be one to look out for. It is essentially a left-handed version of the earlier and extremely popular PAM 372, which I reviewed, and it was only announced this year at SIHH. Here¡¯s a quick look at this new highly anticipated watch.Source: watches-dealer2. HiMy mechanical Rotary watch circa 1971 keeps excellent time but has recently begun to stop approximately 10 hours after being fully wound. Any ideas welcome, I wonder if this is worth repairing? It is a gold watch, very slim model MD34.ThanksAngela
This watch is not in Omega's UK catalogue or on their website. Are there any ADs in the UK who carry this watch. If not, why not?IMHO it's Omega's best looking watch.Regards,John
I just dropped of my PAM00312 for its first service though the Panerai boutique. I was quoted $300 over the phone for a full maintenance, but when I got to the boutique, I was told (by someone else) that it would be around $600 for the full service. Does this sound about right? I wanted to make sure they would be able to polish the scratches out of the bezel, which they said they could and it would be in pristine condition, but I'm throwing around the idea of just getting a replacement bezel for an additional $150.
