Breitling c71356LA/c813-ss wrist watches news:
Hi, I have been left a watch by my father, an Omega Seamaster Calendar. It had sentimental value to him, but I'm not a watch wearer, and I'm not sure if this is something that I want to keep, other than to honor his memory. Can someone help me with a proper identification of what I've got? I'd like to know what the key information is in order to properly evaluate its value, aside from the sentimental aspect, of course. It is not in working condition, and my local watch guy says it would take several hundred dollars to get it working again, not too mention that it's pretty well beat up.Thanks!mister beebe.
Ok, here's the watch......( which is setting, winding and running very well)well, there it is .....I love the NOS band I put on it, but as you can see, the poor thing is in lamentable condition .....the case isn't bad, othe4r than the scratches on the front ...errrr., being gold filled, there isn't a lot I can do about that right ? ......anyway, the rest of the case is not too bad, and the movement is rather nice looking I think, and like I said runs well.......oh and by the way, is this a good movement of Hamiltons????but it's the case and the crystal,.....what you can't see is the wavyness of the crystal, as if someone tried to buff out scratches, and ended up melting the crystal ....eeesh, and the dial, well, I do think this could be helped by a re-dial.....this will be a watch I sell at the markets, and I am hoping that putting a further 80 to 100 into it, ( I paid 24 for it) that i can get a much higher price than I could if I just left it as it is ......Whatchu guys think ?
Let's play a little game here. One of us members with the new Hamiltons will post a new Vintage and we'll see which one of the vintage owners will post a picture of the original. Here's my modern Trent.
As a beginner collector of Hamiltons, I'm trying to assemble some simple tools for examining and inspecting the watches I purchase. On my list I have a spring bar tool (for removing straps), a snap back watch case opener and a screw-case back opener. Can anyone recommend any other's they use that are useful for a collector?
