Breitling a49350LA/f549-1rt wrist watches news:
I've been all over the Internet trying to find a good forum to learn about watches, and I stumbled on this place while trying to find out some information about a Hamilton Ventura. I know a little about watches, but over the past year or so I've really started to take an interest in watches and found out how much I really don't know. I want to grow my collection a bit and I know there are a ton of good quality watches out there that won't break the bank and can be respected by fellow watch-geeks. Right now my collection is pretty small as I'm just starting off, but the line up is: Skagen 915XLBSBSkagen 750XLSTXMSeiko SNE168Momo Designs Dual Tech ProI have a Seiko Kinetic Sport 50 that I won in an eBay auction recently that I'm waiting on, as well as an old Raketa Soviet watch.I am looking to continue my collection expanse and I wear all my watches frequently, so the watches I end up getting will be added to the rotation. I work in IT and sit at a desk all day so I don't really need any
Well the little camy diver I ordered last week showed up yesterday. This ones for the GF, she has only one other watch and its an ugly luois vuitton . I havn't given it to her yet, she thinks I ordered yet another for me! By the way the case back has Mirexal stamped on it, and I was wondering if they were the ones who produced this watch?, or is it just the wrong case back?
So I will be getting bronze watch this year to add to my collection. Many have said let the natural patina take over, but really I like the shiny bronze look. How do I lock that in, any ideas on products to do that?
I just read a post on another forum from a watchmaker who recently sent a 119 year old Patek Phillipe 14k pocket watch back to Geneva for an estimate to repair it. As you probably know, PP will repair any watch they've ever sold, for a price. The estimate came back at $13,000.00 with an ETA of approximately 40 MONTHS!!! Kinda makes a Rolex $500 - $600 service seem like a bargain, huh?
I have been reading a lot of articles lately comparing high end watches but none seem to answer a question I have. Most lists put PP, AP and others at the top with Rolex coming in a few rungs lower. (some lists a lot lower) I understand complications and rarity and market and all of that, but comparing simply fit and finish how does Rolex stack up against the top dogs? I am talking really about cases, dials bracelets and so forth , the stuff you can see without removing parts
