Hello from Sacramento
Hi,New guy here from the suburbs of Sacramento.I am here to learn, but not really to collect.I'm at the point in life where I can afford a Rolex, and that's been a lifelong desire. I know there are more expensive watches and such, and yes, honestly, it is a status thing for me. But there it is! :-)I'm trying to learn as much as I can ahead of time, and looking for a couple places in my area (or members here perhaps in the Sacramento area) where I may be able to pick up a watch.I am not in any particular rush. I want to do it once, and do it right.So I'll be poking around here and there reading what I can.If anyone knows any places in the Sac area (or members here), shoot them my way.Cheers!

Strange watches from Canada...
Has anyone here had any experience with Rufus Gerard watches? They have a banner on a different watch forum, but now they have a full page ad in the Feb 2008 WatchTime.Seems like a silly name, and the website is kinda cheesy. This Rufuslin company says that it is the sole distributor of Rufus Gerard, Botta (allegedly from Germany) and Angular Momentum (allegedly Swiss).I put this out not because I am interested in such watches (I do not have the intention of ever owning such a watch), but just that it seems kinda scammy. This Rufus claims to have a Japanese movement and they want to sell it for $8,800.00 USD. They also say:"Rufus Gerard. A distinguished Canadian name in the Swiss-dominated global watch industry." *ahem*I am Canadian. I am proud of that. But.....

Strap on a Omega Seamaster
Hello,I really like the look of the fat Panerai stap.Is it possible to put on a big juicy strap, like the ones on Panerai watches on this one, my Seamaster???If so where should I look for straps and do I need to think about anything else when changing the bracelet?Let me see some pictures if you have.Thanks//Fred

How many more logos & crowns can or should Rolex place on their timepeices?
With certain models now maintaining several plus rolex crowns on the timepiece, including the etched words rolex in numerous locations, what do you think is too much? Are we getting to a tipping point where our beloved watches may boarder on overkill, or forbid tacky?We all know it’s a rolex right...the person sitting next to us can clearly see that too, but how much more branding does one really need or want? Too much of a good thing is not necessary always a net gain, but are we there yet? At what point is one more crown or rolex branding logo too much? Where do others see rolex’s branding strategy going long term? Are we going to eventually have 14+ crowns on timepieces a decade from now? Overall…I’m ok where it’s at, but tastefulness to tackiness is a fine line and when I look back over time there are typically fewer branding marks on previous generations fwiw. Interested to see what others think.Thanks.
