Research Database Template
This is simply an alphabetical list of every Hamilton model and the year it first showed up in the catalog. I'm thinking that this can be a useful template to create a database for future reference, for such things as movement listings, lug width, maybe even a photo of each model. It doesn't matter what. Seiko SRP043 - A Pilot Diver's watch
I wrote this review a few weeks ago, but I did not know of this forum. So I am posting this here to share my thoughts and photos. When I received this watch a few weeks ago it became one of my favorite. I actually liked it at first sight almost one year ago, when I firs glimpsed it one a forum's post. However a brief search and exorbitant price (at least for me) smothered my interest at that time. Months later it started to pop up on the forums, sales posts. I snatched this from a great guy who had it and only used it for a few days. As usual the original rubber band had to go, and I fitted a leather band that I had available. This is 22 mm shaved and sqeezed down to 20mm at the lugs. Even though I was not sure about it, the result was quite pleasing to my eyes. The watch has been photographed and reviewd multiple times, so I won't get into many details. However I have to mention that it is 44 mm wide and it is rated for 200 m water resistance. Incoming: A Splash of Color - Invicta Yacht Timer
I'm heading to Clearwater Florida for some fun in the sun in a few weeks, and I've been looking for an inexpensive beater with some bright colors to take along on the trip during which I'll be doing some inshore fishing. A few days ago I ran across this new Invicta Grand Diver model called the Yacht Timer. I comes in Orange, Blue, Brown, and Yellow dials, which is the one I ordered last night. The dial has a cool wave motif very similar to an Omega SMP. I really like the shape of the hands all of which are lumed, and the raised Arabic numerals. It also has an alarm feature, which should come in handy while traveling. Vintage AP Jumbo...what about Gold?
I love the AP jumbo. And since I've now added a modern Nautilus to my collection (5712/1A), I feel that the 15202 might just be a bit too similar in look and styling. I know that many of you own both and I agree that it's a different look, but it's still a steel, blue dialled, Genta watch from the modern era. So I'm thinking of going towards the vintage side of things. Either a 5402, or now my consideration¡ Gold! See the below pic of an available gold 5402 from the second series of gold jumbos. The gold 5402's don't seem to be as much of a price delta as current model steel to gold. I know that the original steel jumbo is THE vintage AP to own. But what about gold? Love the design, love the styling, love the look, I even love the grey dial in this configuration. And for me, a gold watch adds something I won't have in my collection after I sell my IWC Portuguese. What do you diehard Jumbo fans think?
