A few days ago on July 23, 2014, Bremont admittedly botched the launch of what is an exciting new product for them - the Wright Flyer that watches-dealer covered here. What happened? Confused facts and efforts by who Bremont claims is a person with an agenda against the brand cast an unfortunate negative light on the release. In addition to the Bremont Wright Flyer being a limited edition timepiece done in collaboration with the Wright family (whose ancestors invented manned-flight in 1903), the Wright Flyer watch was to contain Bremont's first "in-house movement." copied from the GDF:Okay, it's no secret vintage Omega collecting is one of my favorite parts of this hobby. I try to stick to a few specialties in vintage from any brand too: dress watches from the mid 50's to late 60's, and now chronographs from the mid 60's to 70's. I also like to have a little variety from the brands I collect. For instance, one prime example from each series a manufacturer put out (ie: Longines Ultra-Chron, Conquest, Flagship, Diamond Dynasty, Admiral, etc). So, having these parameters and not having an Omega chronograph you would think that the obvious choice would be the Speedmaster caliber 861, right? Late 60's, iconic status....everything I want! Um, unfortunately not. I just don't like the Speedy enough to part with that kind of cash. Don't get me wrong; the history behind them, especially from that era, is amazing and they're possibly the most storied watch known to man but none ever sang to me for all the times I tried one on. New member requesting assistance identifying vintage Omega
Hello TRF!I've been browsing the forum for several months and have finally mustered the courage for my first post.... Wanted to try to make the first one worthy of the forum.Please, let me preface that this is NOT a is it real/how much is it worth post, nor a veiled attempt to sell the watch, etc. This is meant as an honest attempt to obtain some information on the watch and break the ice with the fine folks on the forum. A little background on the watch:I've searched online and taken this watch to several ADs over the years to try to have it identified, but without success. So, I'd like to appeal to the experts here for assistance in determining what Model of Omega this is and an approximate age on it. Even the insurance appraisal from my AD is curiously vague regarding model information. The watch was my late uncle's. In the 1980's he gave it to me and said he bought it in the late 50's or early 60's. He was in the advanced stages of battling cancer and could not remember a lot
