Due to a death in the family recently, I have come across an Omega watch. I brought it to the jeweler in hopes to get it repaired, or at least instructions on how to get it to Omega; however, they were not an AD of Omega, and did not wish to assist for fear of providing false information; however, they did estimate the watch to be from 1970s, and suggested I could contact Omega via their website. So about the watch (and I am to old to try and take pictures with a digital camera. I am surprising myself with being online!), it does say Omega, with the words automatic underneath at the top of the watch, under the II (12. All other hours have I). Between where the 6 would be are the words Swiss Made. It is also a day/date. Pulling the crown out once adjusts the date. Pulling it out twice going in a clockwise motion moves hour/minute hands. Counterclock wise advances the date. What does not work is the timepiece itself. Winding or kinetic motions do not provide any motion on the watch whats
Went to my AD to drop off my 5711. It developed the sticking date issue. I guess I won't see it until next year.I did get to play with a few pieces and wanted to share with you guys. I tried on the 5890r and the 5164. Both amazing pieces and I can see both pieces in my collection in the future. I love the heft of the 5980 but Patek did an amazing job matching the RG case with the dial and strap. I like the 5164's added thickness and heft compared to the 5167. So my list for my next Patek keeps getting longer: 5164, 5205g, 5170g, and 5960p. Which one should be next?
Changed the strap immediately after I bought my 5205R from shiny to matte just to make it a little more casual. I find that this works. Do you find yourself wanting to wear your dressier Patek's even if you're wearing casual attire just so you can enjoy it on your wrist? I think some references it just doesn't work, and others mix with just about anything.
