A quick preface:A little over a year ago I purchased my first mechanical watch. After extensive research, I decided on a frugal Seiko 5 (SNK795K1) with the 7S26 movement. It was understated enough to be worn with any attire, but looked sharp with a suit. And at $55, it fit nicely into my graduate student budget.Wow, I must say. After wearing it mountain biking, skiing, and to numerous interviews, Seiko far exceeded my expectations for quality and finish. The movement quickly settled to +10 seconds per day or so, and hasn't budged since.Presently:My financial situation has improved a bit, and I'm looking to take the plunge once more. What is a Howard Hamilton and is it rare?
HelloIt's been a long time since I've visited this forum. Many of the regulars have changed. I am getting back into watch collecting and I mainly collect vintage Hamilton and Elgin solid gold watches. While looking at the big auction site recently, I saw a listing for a Howard wrist watch. It looks like a Hamilton watch, and even the movement looks like a Hamilton, but the markings on the dial and movement are different. What's a Howard? I see lots of pocket watches by Howard, bit no wristies. Can anyone tell me the story on this watch? Thanks, Jim.

Local AD not shipping watch?
Hi all,Was hoping to get some opinions on this.I've been in the market for one of the hotter sport watches little over a month now. I called one a local AD who happened to have one that wasn't spoken for yet. I agreed over the phone that I would come in tomorrow to purchase the watch. However, I later asked if the watch could be shipped out of state and got an immediate no.Is it no longer allowed for AD's to send watches out of state, even when the purchase was done in store?Or is this associate telling me no because he think's he's doing me a favor by selling me this watch? (which I guess you can argue that he is doing me a favor)
