Seiko Power Design Project 2008 Results: Tokyo Looking Watches
Each year Seiko has a bit of a design competition in Japan called the Seiko Power Design Project. Utilizing a different theme each year, 2008 had 12 watches each named after a district or neighborhood in Tokyo. This is one of the very cool things that Seiko does, and I think that more watch companies should get involved in working with local artists to design watches that come from different points of view. The first Seiko Power Design Project was in 2002, and it has been occurring annually since. I am not sure exactly how the project is done, but the "winners" actually get their watches made. This means that as an artist, you can design a watch and actually have it be produced (if you are lucky), something that most people will never experience as watch production is no easy feat.The goal of the project is not all altruistic of course. What are the top features you look for in a watch winder?
I've tested and owned a LOT of different kinds of watch winders. Here are the features I'd want if I could make a winder:1. It's got to have variable, programable heads: I think Orbita originated this trend, with their watch heads which could be set for several different speeds via "dip switches" you can change via an access pannel on many of their winder models. More recently Rotolution offers maximum flexibility and programability via the USB port and software interface. I think the biggest fear most people have in using a watch winder is that the winder will over time damage their watch. Making sure the watch does not get more than the maximum turns per day the movement needs to stay wound goes a long way in overcoming this fear.2. It's got to be quiet. Most winders I've tested over the last 5 years have got this figured out. Most winders are used in bedrooms. The problem I see now is that many winders I've used get noisier over time. Hi Guys... I am just loving my new Diver... I know I am going through a Honey Moon period with this watch but It's just beautiful!I am planning to fly down to London and LA next month... and wanted to pick up a bracelet for this watch... Does anyone have any experience with an AP AD or SC in either of these places? Do you know which AD might sell it to me? Thank again....

Speedy Pro......yes it tells the date.
I am loving my newest, a 3570 speedy pro. I am also very forgetful when it comes to the date, so I usually buy watches that give the date. Well after learning that the speedy can tell the date, I was sold. I use the right sub dial to tell the date, so when winding the watch in the morning, I run the Tach for a minute until the hand on the right sub dial jumps one over. It is super easy to do and I actually love doing it. I really enjoy manual wind watches and this is just another trick that really makes me bond with the watch. I also find it super easy to read, with the marking at 10, 20 and 30, it just takes a quick glance to get the time and date. Honestly, this might just be my favorite watch I have ever owned. I heard that the speedy was special on the wrist, but I must say, super comfortable, super legible, just a amazing watch. Maybe I am not being clear
I know nothing about my watch. I am asking where can I go online and what is there on the watch that I can plug in to determine what type of watch I have and maybe it¡¯s age. Just frustrated because I don¡¯t know where to begin. It was a gift from 18 yrs ago and I don¡¯t know where to look it up. Thank you.
