Here's another good reason to ask before you buy! I was looking at a very special vintage Omega, one that would be a centerpiece in my collection. It looked legit on first glance - case, crown, markers, logo, etc. I snapped a couple pictures and went to the think tank for more opinions:Authenticity checkNow, I'm no slouch when it comes to picking out suspicious Omegas - but as you can see my doubts were confirmed as this dial got picked apart. As much as I'd love to add a Seamaster XVI Melbourne Olympic Commemorative to my box, there's NO WAY I'm forking over that kind of cash without being 100% sure of it. There wasn't a good enough picture in my Omega book to be positive so I posed it to the Ω collective and it didn't take long.So you can see that even the experienced get by with a little help from their friends. I'm disappointed, but calling this one a success since a wad of cash is still in my pocket.(...and it helps ease the pain knowing I have another nice vintage piec

How inaccurate does an Automatic watch have to get for it to be considered defective?
My Automatic watch is 6 seconds/day too fast. After about a week & half it's a full minute ahead.What is the line, how inaccurate does it have to get per week or per month for it to be considered defective?

Vintage Temporis automatic running way too fast
Hi Everyone,This is my first post to this forum, so I'm hoping I'm doing it rightI've been working on watches as a hobby for a very few years. Don't claim any special skills or expert status.Anyhow, a couple of years ago, I bought two older automatic Swiss watches off the 'bay. Didn't pay much for them cause they weren't mint or anything like that. The Adria runs fine and keeps reasonably accurate time. The Temporis wasn't running at the time of purchase, and I assumed that it would need a good servicing. When I shook it to wind it, it would run for maybe five seconds, and stop. So, I chucked it into a dresser drawer. Got it out the other day, and it started and ran. Kept rather accurate time for about two days, then stopped again.So, I worked up the courage to look into it. I partially disassembled it and verified that the pivot fork and the gear that powers it was free spinning, and let the tension off the main spring. I put it back together and it started right up. Now, this was not

1st the product packaging is a simple thin cardboard box with some tissue for protection and directions for the watch which were simple and easy to follow, I understand the need for eco packaging, but it doesn't inspire confidence in terms of protective packaging. The watch itself looks great, the rich tones of the rosewood grain are stunning. The band is a quarter inch thick so the watch does look beautiful but maybe a bit big for some people, I personally like it, I didn't need to remove any links so I can't speak to how hard or easy that is. The winding knob is a concern as it just seems fairly loose. Thank you to all who shared their insights over the weekend in my original thread ¡° Thoughts on the panerai 562 as a first panerai¡±. I walked by the panerai boutique last Thursday and decided to take a look inside. When I ask the gentleman if he had any base models available, he showed me a panerai 562 ¨C a base pam in titanium with a chocolate dial and matching alligator strap. I strapped it on and it just felt right on my wrist. Still I thought I would sleep on it and at the same time ask the folks over at TRF about the watch, since I really had no idea about panerais and titanium watches. Many in the forum shared good things about the watch, and as the weekend passed, the excitement of strapping it on again only grew more intense. I came across another panerai ¨C a used but mint 112, an iconic model for sure. But it wasn¡¯t titanium, it wasn¡¯t a choco dial, and it didn¡¯t have a matching alligator strap. I kept thinking about getting the 112, but it just didn¡¯t stir any emotion.
