Help needed on tritium
Hi Friends,As some already know I have just acquired a Rolex Gmt Master II.The model was produced in 1996 (T series), before superluminova was used; in this case tritium was used. I expected it to still light up a bit, since I read somewhere that the half life of tritium is 12.3 years. However, there is absolutely no glow whatsover on the markers.Any idea as to why there is no more glow? Lume isn't really that important to me unless I'd be trapped somewhere in the dark of night, but it is comforting to know that there is some.Any tritium owners or anyone knowledgeable who could care to shed light on this? It's been bugging me quite a bit (just a little though). If the watch is 13 years old there should be some kind of glow, shouldn't there?Kind regardsClarence

Hamilton"Samson"
Though I've been a collector for a long time, I am familiarizing myself with Hamiltons now. I prefer only vintage mechanical movements. To me, anything with quartz in it isn't a watch. My question is the relative demand for a "Samson", a 1955 watch I haven't seen too often. It looks like a simpler version of a K series watch whose round bezel was made of three concentric rings.Meanwhile, picked up a "Haydon", and a "Nordon". A couple of weeks ago, the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev paid a visit to Switzerland in honour of his great fellow countryman General Alexander Suvorov.The Russian president was presented a dagger that had belonged to the Russian general when he crossed the Alps by the Swiss president. The two president had visited the world-famous Suvorov Monument in the Sch?llenen Gorge together. This monument commemorates the crossing of the Alps by the Russian generalissimo with his troops in September 1799.
