Patrizzi & Co. closed 2009 in New York City with an auction focused on collector-level timepieces offering just 93 lots. The sale generated $4,225,300, with Patek Philippe accounting for more than half the total value. Patrizzi & Co. finishes the year with sales over $34 million from eight auctions in New York, Geneva and Milan. A yellow gold Patek Philippe ref. 2499 Second Series brought the top price at $720,000. Other highlights from the evening include a very rare set of 4 Patek Philippe perpetual calendars, ref. 3970E, produced during the 1990s. The set includes one watch each in yellow, white and rose gold, and one in platinum. Custom dials with diamond indexes compliment each watch, and the original silver dials are also included. Hi there,I am looking to purchase a new SMP, and have been reading about problems with the 2500, so my question is to buy one now, or wait till it gets the 8500 movement. I have asked my AD, and their watch buyer has said that it is likely to be nearly two years or more till the SMP with 8500 movement is on the shelves (in Australia). Can people pls give me their opinoins on 1) how good/bad the 2500 is and 2) what the 8500 really that far off in the SMP, or is that just sales talk from my AD and 3) should I wait?thanks, advise is greatly appreciated. And
Greetings TRF,I'll keep it short: ever since I bought, enjoyed and sold my SMP I must admit I had the feeling I would get another Omega in my collection someday! The watch I parted with, although I really liked it, wasn't quite meant for me anymore given the horological path I took with all those smaller and vintage watches and since I had other timepieces in mind when I sold it I cannot say it was something I didn't think about or that I really regret, however, the whole experience did make me like the brand even more since I now know that its watches, the vintage as well as the new ones, are as tough, reliable and overall amazing as they're beautiful!I must admit I kept an eye open for a model that I would be able to enjoy to the fullest but I cannot say I had the intention of adding anything to my collection since I purchased a few watches not so long ago. How did that happen? I can barely explain it myself but I can definitely get to this conclusion: it was my destiny to own one...
Is 20mm the correct size for this watch? Thanks in advance!
