My favorite local jeweler/watchmaker, who is well into his 80's, has been systematically digging out watches from his stash of stuff he used to carry, but never sold, when he first opened his store in 1962. This was my source for a shopworn but never owned Longines Flagship from the late 60's. Omega GTG at the Natick, MA Mall.
Hey All, I am putting together a GTG for the Boston area at the Natick, MA Omega Boutique for this Saturday, 6/28. This is posted on a couple of other fourms but thought I'd post it here as well. Here is an itinerary for the GTG along with some other info. Please send me a PM if you're interested in attending. We still have a few spots open. Schedule:2pm-4pm: Group get together at Met Bar & Grill in the Natick Mall. Obviously this is optional, but if you want to get together early, have a drink, maybe grab some food and just talk watches with some great people come out early. When is "No Price Increase" a Price Increase?
Rolex so far has not increased prices in the US. One can buy any watch at the price it was last year and the year before from an AD (not from a GD). All you have to do is buy from the AD who doesn't have the model which is desired but can supply it if multiple watches are purchased or can supply a PM version of the watch but not the SS standard. The ADs may make the same percentage but make a greater total profit on each watch sold or each sale. The manufacturer realizes a higher profit on each watch it sells (PM vs SS). But no price increase. Yup. I'm buying two tone GMT at a considerably higher price than the Red and Blue staple because in this case I like the watch but also because in this case there will never be an available version of the SS model for me. It is a price increase on the order of $5000. QED.
