Girard-Perregaux has announced an evolution of their WW.TC line of traveler-centic watches, continuing the collection with two brand new models. Seeing as the past year has been host to a litany of new worldtimers, it's of little surprise that GP would look to inject their WW.TC formula into this new "Traveller" series. We have known for some time that Girard-Perregaux was going to refresh the WW.TC for 2013. The second new model in the new Traveller collection is the Moon Phases and Large Date, whose features are basically explained by that over-descriptive title - a basic watch it is pleasant enough but lacks pizazz. Whether you call it the WW.TC or the Traveller, this line of globetrotting GP's has been around for a while and found success by offering high end worldtimers that combined elements from both the sporty and elegant sides of Girard-Perregaux.The first of the two new models is a worldtimer that GP is calling the Traveller WW.TC. Sentinal, Vancott(?), Frankenstein!
I think I may have gotten my hands on a Sentinal Frankenstein from the bay ! Franky's not so scary really, this is actually fun! Plus, it was only $100. It was listed as a Sentinel with a 987S movement (#SS66142) and has an S&W, 10K gold filled case (#S811075). It looks exactly like photos of the Vancott:vintagewatch.info/Detail%...%20-%2010K.htmand hereHamilton of the Day: Vancott, except that the outer minute numbers are somewhat obstructed by the raised crystal (incorrect replacement), or, the case itself may be too small too . Something is off; I hope it's just the wrong shape of crystal. I'll know more after taking it to the AD next week for evaluation.So, assuming it only needs a proper crystal replacement, does anyone out there have one lying around gathering dust?Thanks!P.S. For years I've been itching for a WatchCo Omega Seamaster 300 nos/repoduction 1960's vintage diver. Have read all the search results, pros and cons, from a couple of forums and I'm considering rolling the dice.The one question I have'nt had any luck with is what to expect from Canada Customs regarding an Omega from Australia ? How big a $$ hit can I expect, and this is my OCD working overtime, could customs decide the watch is fake, not understanding nos, or reproduction with original parts ?Any imput, positive or negative will be appreciated.
