Took a few quick shots of something I scooped up off eBay: a Heuer Autavia Viceroy ref #1163 powered by a caliber 12 microrotor. It's from November of 1971 and apparently only 600 or 700 were made of this version according to a restoration expert. The caliber 12 was the improved version of the caliber 11, which was the very first automatic chronograph to be sold to the public. Breitling, Heuer, and Buren (owned by Hamilton) developed this movement in the late 1960's. They teamed with Dubois-Depraz to form the Chronomatic Group. Movado and Zenith were also competing to manufacture one. They had announced their El Primero earlier, introduced a few prototypes in January of 1969, but were beaten to market by a couple months by the caliber 11. There is still debate over who was the first to release an automatic chronograph, and purists argue that the El Primero is the true winner since it is an integrated movement built from the ground up while the caliber 11 was a module attached to
