Franck Muller Franck Muller 22830 wrist watches news:
The more time I spend in watches, the less interested I become in what the industry calls "halo" pieces. You know, those mega-comps that cost as much as a home in downtown New York, that you hear about exactly twice – when announced at Basel or SIHH, and when they sell at auction for a fraction of their original retail price. I am far more interested in great watches for reasonable prices that people can actually buy, wear, and enjoy, and that seems to be Montblanc's MO these days. We showed you this new annual calendar chronograph from Montblanc about two weeks ago, and I made a point of seeing it first thing at SIHH 2016 because, shit, it's an annual calendar chronograph for $10k. Here are some live pics and thoughts. 1 OF 7 First, they nailed the dial. It's a very complicated watch, with a lot to display, and the dial is more than completely legible. Each sub-register is very well spaced relative to the 42 mm case size – something we
I was wondering if anyone can help meI have always loved the early Seamasters and Seamaster Devilles but have always been too afraid of buying one on Ebay for fear of buying a dud. Anyhow last weekend I was lucky enough to find a Seamaster 1957 2846 8SC in a little second hand watch shop. It is a non date version with a white/silver dial. I have already replaced the black (non original) strap it came with. Overall it is in nice condition but the dial is faded and in my opinion really brings the overall appearance of the watch down. Its not dreadful but could look so much better. I have been to a few places in town. The general opinion is that I could have the dial repaired for about ?90. Some shops have said that they can send the watch to Omega and a new dial may be available. So what do people suggest. I know Omega made many different Seamasters with loads of dials at around this time but is there a possibility that a new dial could be obtained or is this unlikely? If so what sort of
In 1998, Fortis produced the worlds 1st self-winding watch with not only a chronograph, but also a mechanical alarm. The extremely complicated movement was inspired by space specialists at the Star City Space Training Centre in Moscow. These complications were required by cosmonauts as they would prove to be extremely useful in space missions. As I'm sure you could imagine, a stop watch and a gentle reminder could prove useful in everyday life, let alone space travel. Taking the 380 part movement with duration for space travel, improving it by adding COSC certification, and now today, adding even more complication! I am looking for a women's automatic for my girlfriend. I know that there are not many automatics made specifically for women which makes the search even harder. Does anyone have suggestions for a women's automatic for $5000.00 or less? Here are a few that I have looked at so far:CARTIER - The renowned French jeweler and watchmakerOMEGA Watches: Constellation Brushed Chronometer - Steel on steel-gold - 123.10.31.20.05.001Oris - Purely mechanical Swiss watches. Thanks for any input.
Curious to see what folks think. Often hear of admiration for craftsmanship and engineering in our watches, some of which we cannot even see without cracking open the watch. Would people still be interested in a perpetual calendar that would keep the date properly set without any user intervention (as in a standard mechanical date/time watch) in February, or 30 month days, but without all the display information on the dial? E.g. a 5227 appearance but the perpetual functionality built inside for a watch that otherwise appears no different.Or an annual calendar such as the 5146 or 5205 that displays the day/month/date but would never need to be touched even in February, because the perpetual functionality is taking care of it?The perpetual info such as leap year would instead be displayed on the back for setting purposes, etc.Guess what I am asking is - is it truly the function that is desired? Is it good enough that it's there without being obvious? Or is part of it wanting the display
