Girard Perregaux 4958 wrist watches news:
I thoroughly debated on whether or not I should even cover this "watch." It is from a brand called Haldimann - eponymously named after the watch maker Beat Haldimann, and I think the man is playing a rather cruel joke on watch lovers. One press release I saw on the watch wasn't a press release at all, but a rather diplomatic article written by a Swiss journalist based on his reaction to the watch. As a timepiece this item is utterly indefensible - but optimistically creative types will claim that it is some manner of art. This latter description is probably the kindest thing you can say about this horological insult. I wonder whether or not Beat will next release a pile of screws and gears and call it the "H10 Potential."Haldimann's H9 watch is called the "Reduction," but to me it is the Revulsion. The watch is "reduced" to a useless tragedy. I should have seen this coming, but perhaps never expected his audacity to go this far. And by audacity I mean it in the American sense"boldly ru
Hello everyone! I have lurked here for about six months and I am ready to make my first Roles purchase. After a lot of research, I decided that I want to buy a used 16610. I recently found a local AD who took a used 16610 in as a trade. The watch has the original box and papers and is a K serial selling for $4,400. I don't believe the watch has ever been serviced. The only flaw I can see is that the aluminum bezel insert is pretty scratched. Can somebody advise me if that price seems fair? The only mechanical I own is a seiko premier automatic with the 6r20 movement. When I unscrewed the crown on the sub and wound it, I found that the winding process had far less resistance than my seiko. Is that normal? I appreciate any input you can give and I look forward to enjoying this wonderful hobby with all of you!
I thought this might be an interesting topic since AP recently started the new 5 year warranty. Since AP service costs so much and their movements seem to be a little less reliable than say a rolex imho I think the 5 year warranty adds a significant value to the watch. I don't mean to say that Rolex is a better movement but just that it is more simplified and requires fixing less often from my experience. Say you were looking at two AP watches to buy. One is from 2016 and one is from 2017 and both are LNIB. the 2016 watch only has 2 years left on the warranty while they 2017 watch has a full 5 years. What is 3 extra years warranty on an AP worth to you in terms of $$$? To me it is EASILY worth $1000. Do you agree?
Considering Trading my white 26320 for a black 26320, panda 26300, panda offshore, or a navy offshore. I am going to Dubai this Sunday and I have contacted a dealer named Luxury Souq (.luxurysouq) which I found on chrono24. I am considering a trade before I realized I would like some more color on my wrist. I have a few questions and I would greatly appreciate any input you guys could provide me.1. Has anybody here ever heard or dealt with Luxury Souq (Dubai UAE)? Are they reputable?2. If the 26300 has an H reference letter, should I be at all concerned about any near future repairs or service?3. Anything at all you would recommend me be aware or cautious of?Many Thanks....Kenny
As you all know from my previous post, I've been in the market for a 5711. I've been visiting AD's and building a relationship, often hearing the waitlist is 1-2 years. I put a deposit down at a local AD, with an anticipated wait of 1 year. I later on decided that I'll just put my name down at another AD just in case (no deposit required). I later changed my mind and wanted a 5712. After some luck, a different AD told me that a 5712 (blue dial) is coming in and would have my name on it if I wanted so of course I agreed and put down a deposit. I got a call from the AD that I did not place a deposit with this week. He told me he had a 5711 (blue dial) come in and asked if I wanted it. Of course I couldn't turn it down! Long story long (joke), I often read the forums for advice about wait times for certain watches etc. and often see some people getting lucky. This time it was me! Now I have a delimma: keep both the 5711 and 5712 blue dial?! I guess this is a great problem to have! Officia
