Here's a strange one: my SMP lost an hour and 15 mins between tuesday night and wednesday morningHere are the facts...1. On tuesday I set my watch to the US timeclock, which I do every couple of weeks to adjust for its normal loss. It was about 30 seconds slow.2. I used my watch tuesday night to time my class - so I know it was right-on at 9:15 when I left for home. 3. I took my watch off before going bed and noticed that it was going on midnight.4. I woke up in the morning, had my coffee, looked at the wall clock saw it was 7:10, went upstairs put on my SMP and noticed that it read 5:50 and was still running. (I had wound it the prior morning and worn it all day and wore it all day wednesday without a winding...).So, where did the 1 hour and 15 mins go?Strange yes?Hmmmmmm?
I am not sure what would make one 'drool' more, the corned beef sandwiches from Carnegies or what has to be withOUT any dispute the 'Numero Uno' collection of Illinois watches in the world. and its Right Here! (Ahora Mismo!)I had the great pleasure of seeing RJ007 collection of Illinois. Probably the first time in the world (En Todo el Mundo) that EVERY (yes every) known gold model of Illinois has ever been assembled to-gether (ALL 9 in one place)I say this truthfully. "this is the greatest single collection of 'one' make (Illinois) watches in the world"It even contains a custom Illinois noted as made in Fredric Friedberg but NEVER seen (no pictures in Friedbergs book, just a description of the UNIQUE watch), and I saw and touched it. Pictures to follow of that and other MAGNIFICENT watches. The collection is amazing, not only does it contain the rarest of Illinois (one offs) but more importantly complete ranges of individual models. My collection of Rolex's is not modest, but RJ007 co
A very nervous 'I', in-conjunction with NAWCC will be doing a 'webinar' on August 1st at 16.00 hrs. I will be talking about the beginning of the wrist watch and progressing to early automatics - the myth behind the misconception.I hope some or all of you can join me - discussions afterwards. Here is the registration link for the webinar you will be offering on August 1 in case you wanted to mention it in any of your blogs.https://net.nawcc.org/imispublic_pro...TemplateType=AThis webinar by the National Watch and Clock Museum's Gallet Guest Curator of Wristwatches will examine how and when we got from the pocket watch to the wristwatch. The change seemed much harder than people would have imagined, with watchmakers fighting a losing battle against the public and strangely jewelers. Mr. Harris will also discuss the natural progression from the manual wristwatch to the automatic. This webinar is available for $5.95 for current NAWCC members and $8.95 for non NAWCC members.
