This question is about material choice in general - as it applies to both watch bracelets and other jewelry items - rings, etc.I find that I am pretty tough on rings, and not quite as bad on my watches The bracelet on my Seamaster still looks great, but I have Stainless Steel and gold rings that are pretty scratched up.So I just wanted to ask about the durability/scratch & ding resistance of the following:Gold (9K & 14K)SilverTitaniumAnd what about rhodium plated solver - where would that fit in the range? Also, can each of these (Silver, Rhodium plated silver, and titanium) be polished to like new or near new condition on occasion by a jeweler or by me with a Dremel and polishing wheel? Thanks for the help on this - I appreciate any input/advice!
Hello all, I'm beginning a restoration on a late 40's early 50's (not sure of exact date) Cyma 'watersport'. It's housed in a square SS case and contains a cal. 420 automatic (bumper) movement. (also referred to as a Tavannes 420).There seems to be 'little' information on Cyma watches (on the web) even though they have a long history (starting in the late 1800's and manufacturing in-house movements through the post WWII era (late 50's early 60's)). The brand name is still being sold today, but I'm not sure of what linkages (if any) exist between the past company and the current marketed brand (again, no info I could find). I did discover that the 'watersport' was a fairly popular model and collected by a number of enthusiasts (maybe years back, not sure of the demand today). As for the movement, parts are still being carried by JB (well some of them anyway) so that's good, but I've not been able to locate 'any' sources for case parts (specifially crystal, gasket). So any leads here wo
