Pre-SIHH: Introducing The Baume & Mercier Clifton Collection
For SIHH 2013, Baume & Mercier will be unveiling an entirely new collection, Clifton. While most of the pieces will not be shown until January, we have a sneak peak at Clifton for you this morning. And if these three watches are any indication, Clifton is going to be a strong collection for B&M. 2 OF 6 The inspiration for Clifton comes from vintage dress watches of the 1950s, though the name comes from a South African sea-side resort. Go figure. The basic models like those here come in at 41mm and 42mm, which are certainly modern sizes, but not overly huge. The numbers on the dial are elegant, the three-piece case is sturdy, and there seems to have been a great attention paid to details throughout the design process.First up are two steel models, one with a silver dial and the other with a black dial. Both are 11.54mm thick, house automatic movements (likely ETA or ETA-like), and come on alligator straps. With the sub seconds and discrete date at 3 o'clock, these really d

Great AD / Rolex Rep Story
Recently I purchased my wife a SS Datejust jubliee bracelet, MOP diamond dial. This has been one of many I have purchased from local AD. When I went to pick it up my AD had a surprise waiting for me all wraped up. We know each other very well and he takes really good care of me, but this time he out did himself. About 6 months ago I mentioned to him that I would have loved to get a knife from Rolex, but not just any knife the famous stainless steel version. Well without me knowing my AD talked to his Rolex Rep about my request. The Rolex rep had told him that Rolex only produced a small batch of that version and that they no longer make it. My AD talked with him about me as he had asked what kind of customer was I and my AD was nice enough to tell him my great enthusiasum for Rolex. Well to my AD's surprise he recieved a little box from his Rolex rep that said enjoy, this comes from my own personal collection, I had 2 but thought the person you talked to me about would enjoy having one

Okay, so my 1956 Seamaster is already doing funny things. When winding, it feels as though the mech is binding. The second hand now skips a couple of seconds every 12-15 seconds. Suggestions as to where to send it for service/repair and an original dial??

I have a customer from Japan in his 60s who was born with a silver spoon. He likes to talk about his youth alot and the other day as I noticed he wore no watch I asked if he owned timepieces? He claims he ownes several Rolex and got his first at 15 as a b-day present from rich dad. With no appreciation he used it many a times in street fights as a brass knuckle. He still has it till this day, "well built" he says(dumbass).
