IWC 379901 wrist watches news:
Really soon (6pm on September 24th) it will be time for the Only Watch 2009 watch auction. I summed up the detail a bit here, and here. Click there to get the specs on it all. Frankly I am a bit tired of writing "Only Watch" 2009, but just because there has been so much to say about it. The concept is really cool; your favorite watch makers need to make special unique watches that are then sold to the super elite, and the money goes to charity. The auction is held at the Monaco Yacht show every other year.Charity is nice and all, but for me it is all about the crazy watches they the brands came up with. This year there will be 34 watches auctioned off. For a watch to be part of the auction it must be the very first in a limited edition (1/XXX), or a totally unique watch specially made for the event. I really enjoyed seeing what the brands put out there, and I look forward to smirking at the prices that will be achieved for the timepieces. There is going to be a heavy amount of alcohol
I finally bought myself a proper grown-up watch. It has been a good year (became a manager at work, got married, turned 30) and I thought I owed it to myself.I purchased a 1999 Omega Speed Master from Darlor Watch. The service from Darryl is above and beyond. I can't say enough good things about him and look forward to growing my collection with him. I would have loved to have a brand-new watch, but this one is **** near perfect.I am not sure how it is supposed to operate though. It appears that the long second hand stays in the 12 o'clock position at all times, until the chrono is started, then it begins to sweep. The top button starts and stops the chrono and the bottom button reset it.The small dial at 9 o'clock seems to be the second hand and runs all the time. I haven't let it run long enough to determine when the other 2 dials turn.I am really not sure. Anyone have a manual description for me? I will look at it more tomorrow as a full week of 3-year budget projections ha
Hello everyone,I know this is a long shot but does anyone own and are willing to sell their Seiko Spring Drive Moon Phase 2 SNR011 or Seiko Ananta Spring Drive SNR023? It's a magnificent timepiece that I've wanted for a long time. Thank you!Seiko SNR011.jpgSeiko SNR023.jpg
Well 2 things...one I'm running around this morning trying to get stuff ready for my mom's b-day party...two I'm wearing a watch I've never worn before. It's watch that was one of my grandfathers and it's a Timex Automatic. Really beat up but its about the only vintage I have wanted to wear that I own. So last night I wound it up and set the time. This morning it was right on -ish and so when I went to get the propane I stopped at the drugstore and got a leather strap for it.Oh and third...hopefully I can get a few more shots today...Here we are taking out the trash and moving the "babies" out into the sun. (I'm a novice gardener and this year we will have two gardens)...:DBelow: you can see how scratched it is; in full sun.Now off to finish the laundry.
My uncle is caught between this dilemma right now and I've been helping him try to figure out which to go for. His only watches currently are a WG DayDate2 and a Patek 5100J. Taking cost out of the equation, which would you guys prefer and why? Any wristshots to persuade one way or the other are highly encouraged Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
