Girard-Perregaux is introducing a new steel version of its popular ww.tc chronograph. Originally launched in 2000, this collection has quickly become one of G-P’s iconic lines. The ww.tc (world wide time control) displays all 24 time zones on its dial. An exclusive coupling mechanism drives the ring displaying 24 cities representing the zones. The hour ring also has a day/night indicator. The ergonomic, satin-finished case measures 43mm in diameter. For this new model, the dial and 24-hour ring have been redesigned, and the baton-style hands are also new. The GP033C0 in-house movement combines chronograph and date functions with world time indication. The automatic movement, visible through a display back, offers a 46 hour power reserve.Customers can select between an elegant black matte alligator strap or a more sporty satin-finish steel bracelet. Affordable Vintage: 1970's Zodiac SST 36000
Zodiac is a curious brand that, at its peak, made just about every type of watch you could imagine. Triple date chronographs, GMTs, 24 hour models, divers, dress watches and watches with all together novel designs were common place for this well regarded Swiss brand. Models such as the Sea Wolf, Olympos and Astrographic are classics in their own right, demonstrating great design and a remarkable amount of creativity. Zodiac was a genuine innovator amongst Swiss brands, and in the late 60's was one of the first brands to bring out an automatic movement with a frequency of 36,000 beats per hour (detailed timeline here). Referred to as their SST or Split Second Timing line, these watches guaranteed (literally) to be the most precise in the world. The idea being that the higher frequency movements, which "tick" 10 times per second, are more accurate than watches with a frequency of the more standard 28,800 bph. Elgin Sterling Silver Trench Watch Restoration, Glow Hands & Dial
I just finished this Elgin today. I usually do not restore dials with luminous material along with the hands but I have been experimenting lately with some new things. This is a transition watch and the dial that is on this movement is the same one that was on it when I bought it awhile back. The dial was in VERY poor condition and almost un-usable. I sent the dial and hands out to Rob at International, I think that they did a fantastic job! The numerals and hands look white but they glow bright green in the dark. 15 jewel serviced Elgin movement from 1911, nice and big size 0s, 33mm! Sterling silver case manufactured by the American Watch Case Company, polished of course. Black nylon band with a new crystal.
