Wandering around Manhattan yesterday afternoon...
It truly is a watch lover's paradise here. I travel to Manhattan once or twice a month for business but don't often take time to hit all the big name watch shops. I actually had some free time yesterday afternoon and went on a bit of a watch shop tour, Tourneau, Wempe, Kenjo and all those jewelry shops on 47th. My head was spinning. When I went looking for my GMTIIC, I called or visited all the AD's whenever I was here. Nobody had one in stock. I got lucky and found it in upstate NY (just days before the price hike :)). I was surprised to not see one SS GMTIIC at all the AD's. I figured it would be much more available these days. Several of the 47th St. shops had the SS version in the window, but I didn't bother to check prices. These guys are gray market, correct?On an unrelated note, I found a SS Daytona at a Tourneau in San Diego last week. They wanted $16K for it. Who in their right mind....?Anyway, I'm sure you locals are used to all this eye candy, but my home town of Boston can'

312N Series
Anyone notice the subtle change in the dial color on the N series 312's? I had an L series and compared it to the N series at one of the boutiques and noticed that the new dial color is more gray than black. The bezel around the case back is also brushed instead of polished. The slight change looks really good and seems to provide a little more contrast against some of the straps.

Distorted crystals
Has Panerai considered making crystals that are optically pure? Most pictures I've seen have severe distortion around the curved outer part of the crystal.Most mid to better brands now used optically pure sapphire which is very clear even from the most severe angles.Here is a pic of my Link to illustrate:My 048...
