Drive north from New York City and in about two hours you’ll arrive at Dia:Beacon, one of the finest collections of contemporary art around, in a remarkable setting on the Hudson River. Hopefully, while there, you’ll have a surreal encounter with "Crouching Spider" – a massive sculpture by artist Louise Bourgeois. What exactly does this have to do with watches? Well, "Crouching Spider" uses bronze as a key material in its construction, the same metal used for the case of the Pilot 39 from German watchmaker Archimede. And it just so happens that the Pilot 39 has the right balance of conservative proportions, elegant case materials, and sporty design details to make it the ideal watch for a low-key weekend away. Plus, it comes in at just under $800. 2 OF 8 The dial is really legible, with bold arabic numerals and thick minute indexes. The bronze case of the watch we borrowed from Archimede has already started developing a patina, a
Tissot all revved up and ready to go Tissot has a number of new models all revved up and ready to go. From the world of motorcycling, the brand is introducing a new limited series MotoGP watch and a T-Race Nicky Hayden Limited Edition. For those who prefer four wheels, there is a new Racing collection. It is slightly more sober in colour, but loses none of the racing feel that Tissot does so well. Let¡¯s take a closer look. A number of performance motorcycle features adorn this new model: the bezel resembles disc breaks and the carbon composite featured on the case echoes the sophisticated materials used in the construction of MotoGP bikes. The dial has also been cleverly designed with its carbon-chequered pattern that is remi-niscent of the chequered f

Hello All,This is the first time I post here on the Patek section but I've been following it for some time.I've been trying for a while to source or at least have my name put on the waiting list for the 5711 (blue dial) but was never really successful. So I decided today to call as many ADs as possible. I went on the Patek website and got the number of their ADs in Europe, Middle East and Asia. I ended up calling more than 50 ADs and I only managed to have my name put on the list in 3 or 4 stores (including the Geneva salon)!!!!! And the waiting time is 3-5 years! Add to that I think the ADs that took my name will never contact me. I know I still have the USA ADs to call but to be honest I got tired of the same answer and I think the situation will be the same in the USA. How can this watch be that hard to get? I see it all over the internet (mainly instagram) and I wonder how is everyone managing to buy it! I know I can buy it from a grey dealer but to be honest I find it ridiculous t
