You can disagree with me but I think that watches containing hand-painted dials are pretty cool. Especially when the dials depict actually masculine things like dragons. Most of these watches seem to be of flowers, fairies, or family portraits. I can dig these. Not on a daily basis, but I can dig these pretty well.Angular Momentum is no stranger to hand-painted enamel dials. I am pretty sure that such is their current bread-and-butter. This new set called the 9 Dragons Collection has nine different watches each with a unique style of dragon on the dials. Each dial is done in a "Verre Eglomise" miniature painting, with a small opening cut into them offering a view to a time disc. Telling the time in this way is not super precise, but offers a surprisingly clear and simple way of showing the time with a disc moving along a time-indicating needle.My favorite part of the collection is that the watches depict different types of dragon styles. New Addition - Heuer Autavia
I had a new (for me) watch arrive last night. A Heuer Autavia, and before anyone else mentions it: yes, you have seen one before. Dennis has one he has recently restored). I had been starting to look into vintage watches and vintage chronos and Dennis pointed me in the direction of some interesting information. I enjoyed reading and researching about the early auto chronos and made a decision on which one to buy for many of the same reasons Dennis did.This one uses the calibre 12 movement, which of course is based on the calibre 11, one of the first auto chrono movements. It is a great size for me, 42mm wide excluding the crown, and look great on.I have a replacement bezel coming in, but I don't think I'll do much else from pop that in and get the movement cleaned up. 1977 Heuer Calculator Identification Help
Hi guys, I was hoping someone might be able to help me find some info on this watch. So far the information I¡¯ve been able to dig up is that it¡¯s a Heuer that purchased in mid-April of 1977. It also appears to have a manual winding 28,800 vph movement, although I have no idea what caliber it is. Most of these Heuer Calculator¡¯s were apparently produced with an automatic movement; however I can confirm that this watch is not self winding. I believe I found a post claiming that they only made ~750 units worldwide with this mechanical movement which I suppose would make it pretty rare. The other thing I was able to find was an etched number (which I suppose is the model #) between the lugs at 6 o¡¯clock position. As far as I can tell this number reads, ¡°740 633¡±. I suppose I¡¯d like to find out if this watch is as rare as it appears to be and possibly what something in this shape would sell for? I¡¯d appreciate any comments/information that anyone can provide. I¡¯ve always found this forum to
