- Cheap, Cheap Cheap, Watch face is beautiful but strap is chep rubberized plastic that make it look cheap. Presentation box and watch face were beautiful but can't get over the strap. Sending all 6 of them I ordered back

Making the Grade-Part 1
Having no rectangular movements originally, when Hamilton bought the venerable Illinois watch company in 1928, it adapted the 17 jewel Illinois 207 and renamed it the Hamilton 401. 8,016 were made in total.Some of the Hamilton models that had this movement were the Andrews, Byrd (named for the famous explorer and pictured below), Ericsson, Livingston, Stanley, and Wilkinson.The last watch with this movement was manufactured by 1934.Sources: Hamilton Wristwatches, A Collector's Guide by R.
