Longines L2.778.4.53.2 wrist watches news:
I wonder if there are any Vantage watches floating around anywhere?(From Watch Source Guide)In 1962, Hamilton entered into a joint venture (60% owned by Hamilton) with the Japanese watchmaking firm Ricoh to produce electric watches meant primarily for the Japanese market. The electronic components were produced at Hamiltons Lancaster, PA factory while production of the mechanical works and final assembly was undertaken in Japan. Although production levels of Hamilton-Ricoh watches was high (over 1000 per month), demand was low and consequently, the Hamilton-Ricoh partnership was unable to compete with the substantial market presence of Seiko. The partnership was dissolved in 1965, with the remaining Hamilton-Ricoh electronic movements (marked "Ricoh 555E") re-cased as "Vantage" and sold in the US.

I had the opportunity to meet with the inventor of a watch that guarantees to keep time within one second of exact time. The patent (#5,375,105) claims that the watch keeps time with an error of less than 1/4 of 1 second per month. It also allows the owner to adjust the quartz movement themselves without having to send it off to a repairer. It's a pretty amazing little watch. We plan on exhibiting the prototype of the watch as part of the Quartz Revolution part of our Grand Complications exhibit in 2010. Right now the inventor is looking for a reputable watch manufacturer interested in producing production examples of the watch. Any watch brands come to mind?I'll post some images of the watch when I receive them.Noel
Well today I got to try on some AP watches in Las Vegas at the Palazzo. I am really new to the brand and other than my recent diver, I had never seen one in the flesh. They had a few ROO models both in 42mm and 44mm but my heart is with the 15400 in rose gold. So they had the white dial on strap (rg) and a chrono, full bracelet white dial. I originally dismissed the RO chrono due to the non in house movement, but it is a stunner, wow. I also loved the simple clean dial of the 15400 and I like the profile of both. The chrono is a little thicker. So what say you guys.....If you liked both but were on the fence.....what would you chose. RO Chrono 26320 Rose Gold White Dial15400 Rose Gold White Dial Full bracelet for both models is what I am looking at.
Just picked up this little beauty yesterday.Early Christmas present to self... well if I don't, nobody else will! Lol.Anyway, if I said 'I couldn't be any happier with it' I would be telling the truth - now I know what all the fuss is about..Seriously in love with that Sunburst dial & Gold font..Anyway, I will try and post some better macro pics soon. Finally, would just like to take the opportunity to say 'Thank You' TRF for all the wonderful and knowledgeable information you've all shared in 2017. Here's hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas, a happy New Year and a very prosperous 2018Regards...
