Well some of you might have already known I recently acquired a 321. I wore it for a week or so now and it winds like a charm and keeping good time. As most of you who knows about 321, is its classic Lemania 2310 movement and 'possibly' the first watch with this movement which went to the moon are just simply a joy to watch. I opened the case and took a few shots of this infamous calibre 321 (which incidentally also prettied up in Patek 5004/5070 and VC) for your enjoyment. Have a nice weekend.Mech.
Looking back over several years price list is appears that P models are 33% to 38& higher in price than G models. I used the 5146 for comparison. While there is a limited amount of precious metals in the case and workings given the historical pricing of gold and platinum this ratio seems plausiblen, until lately. From 2000 to 2007 platinum averaged about 1.8 times the price of gold. In 2008 they were equal, in 2009, 2010 platinum averaged 1.25, and in 2011 gold exceeded platinum. Given the sharp rise in gold is it likely Patek will raise G & J models more than P's or will P's ride the ever increasing price wave at the same ratio? Are P's that much more popular and do they tend to whole their value at the same ratio?
Did you know that in the movie Red River John Ireland, (playing Cherry Valence) one of the cowboys/gunslingers who joins roundup makes this quote:There are only two things more beautiful than a gun: a Swiss watch or a woman from anywhere. Ever had a goodSwiss watch? Even in 1948 when the movie was made they appreciated a good Swiss Made watch. From Casablanca:Rick: If it's December 1941 in Casablanca, what time is it in New York? Sam: What? My watch stopped. ( It was an Invicta apparently)Rick: I'd bet they're asleep in New York. I'd bet they're asleep all over America. From Pulp Fiction ( edited for bad naughty words)Butch: Where's my watch?Fabienne: It's there.Butch: No it's not.Fabienne: Have you looked ?Butch: Yes, I've friggin' looked. What the heck do you think I'm doin'? You sure you got it ?Fabienne: Yes. Bedside table drawer.Butch: On the little kangaroo ?Fabienne: Yes, it was on the little kangaroo.Butch: Yeah, well, it's not here now.Fabienne: Well, it should be.Butch: Yes it
Dial seem a bit busy but the more I look at it the more I'm getting to like it. There seems to be several combinations but the black/white dial and hands are what I'm looking at. Pre-owned ones are attractive price wise which is also peaking my interest. Any thoughts good or bad I'd love to hear them?
