Hey guys ! ! ! ! ! ! Sit down and strap yourselves in for this one ! ! ! ! I was doing to online research today for some Elgin Trench Watches and I found some pretty incredible things ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Things that shatter the date line for when we THOUGHT that they were available.Do you guys remember this Elgin Strap Watch Ad from February 22, 1919 in Literary Digest Magazine? We all found this amazing because nobody thought that the cushion case style was available until 1923 (give or take). This is it below.WELL, here is an ad from Wadwsworth that pre-dates the Elgin Strap Watch Ad DURING WWI ! ! ! ! It's from August 14, 1918 a full 6 months BEFORE the Elgin Strap Watch Ad ! ! ! ! ! I HAD NO IDEA that these cases were available BEFORE WWI had ended ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !An incredible find ! ! ! ! ! ! !Remember the paper dial overlay thread, well here is the product from August 28, 1918 ! ! !Ever wonder who actually made the "SNAP ON PROTECTORS" (shrapnel guards) ? ? ? ?It was Mealy Manufacturin
It seems these watches are very popular. I was thinking about picking one up, since I don't have a watch with orange dial. I read somewhere the watch is not hack or hackwind. What does that mean exactly?TIA
Hi all, Just wondering if you think this is the real deal? Its on flea bay with no box and papers..
Forgive the blurry pics off the computer screen but can someone tell me what watch he's wearing? He's been wearing this all week. Looks like the same color bezel on the Platona but don't see any sub-dials on the blue dial. Maybe it's the lighting in the TV studio but this doesn't look familiar to me.
