Baselworld 2015 Preview: New Versions of the Girard-Perregaux 1966
Among Girard-Perregaux’s releases at Baselworld this year are new pieces in the 1966 collection for men and women. The new Girard-Perregaux 1966 features a rose-gold case and fine guilloch¨¦ on the dial.Holding the new 1966 up to the light gives quite a view. The loping guilloch¨¦ pattern stems out from the center of the dial in 12 sectors. The dial itself is in silver with a flinqu¨¦ enameling technique applied to it. Applied indexes at 12, 3, 6 and 9 are baton-shaped and painted in a gold to match the case. A date window is at 3 o’clock. The hands are feuille-shaped.The men’s 1966 has an automatic GP03300 movement, which is 25.6 mm wide. It beats at 28,800 vph and it runs in 27 jewels. Its power reserve is estimated at 46 hours.There are sapphire crystals on both the front and back of the case. The rose-gold case has a mildly sloping bezel, leading down to polished lugs. The watch comes on a black alligator strap with overstitching; the pin buckle is also in rose gold.

In keeping with recent tradition, IWC has put its marketing focus on one watch collection for 2014. This year, it’s the Aquatimer, the brand’s line of divers’ watches. Thoughts on Italian Design
How do you feel about Italian/Swiss watches? I have to admit I'm no fashion plate, but some of the Italian inspired offerings are pleasing to me. I sold a Locman 1970 series a couple of years ago that I miss now. Not the quartz mineral version that the TV show sells, but the older, 2824 powered model. I bought my Potger Pietri because of it's Italian guadiness, and my grail would be the Panerai Slytech, which I doubt I'll ever own. What do you guys think of Italian style? Be easy on me.
