I just won this one today on the Bay. Only 3 bidders and I won by just a little over $2. I was able to read the serial number off of one of the pics and my chart shows it was mfg in 1993. This is a seller's pic, I hope to have the watch in hand by Wednesday, no later than Thursday.:
What watch was it that made you take an interest in watches? For me it was an Omega in the early '80's in a style I've only seen once since, and that was recently and was on the wrist of an honest to goodness merchant marine ship's captain. His route takes him right past the Somali coast on a regular basis - not somewhere I'd like to be. It's funny that when I saw it again I didn't like it nearly as much as I did back when, but I'd still like to have one someday just because it was the first one that really caught my eye.It was a Seamaster two tone that I can't really describe, but if I ever see another like it I'll post an image to see if anyone can help identify it.It was shaped similar to this one, wasn't a chronograph, had a stainless steel (maybe also two tone) strap and may have been from the '70's and not the '80's.
I should be receiving it within the next hour or so! OMG... Words can't express how excited yet sad that I needed to depart with a few of my other watches to fund this one! I hope this one will feed may addiction for the rest of the year or even longer!!!!Any guesses? Hint: it's not an offshore and you don't see many of them around! Think of technicality!- Dennis
Hey guys - I've got a ton of watch books and guides for Rolex and other brands.I was wondering if there are any recommendations for a good Patek book that has early vintage references and details as well as more recent models.I know John Reardon has Patek Philippe In America. Anyone have this?Open to other suggestions. Thanks
