HYT H1 Hydro Mechanical Watch
Allow me to officially debut liquid timekeeping to you. I teased the HYT H1 watch here recently by showing off the movement and the teaser video (more images there too). Now I can show you the full watch and discuss all that it is. In short, the HYT (Hydro Mechanical Horologists) brand will be dedicated to producing watches with liquid in them. The debut model is called the H1.HYT CEO Vincent Perriard called the first "new" Concord watch the C1 when he was the CEO there a few years ago. There is a lot of similarity here in terms of the modernist conceptualization and presentation of the concept. Though the H1 is something altogether new. The watch uses a liquid filled chamber to display the hours using luminescent green goo in a circular tube. Two bellows are used to push and pull the liquid to show the time on the scale. These bellows are operated by the movement. The minutes are displayed in the center of the face with a dedicated dial, and there is a water turbine style subsidiary s

Couldn't resist...picked up the new Hamilton Jazz Master Regulator today...42mm case width...thought the grey dial would have a bluish tint to it, but so far, haven't seen it...pretty happy w/ it so far...after I've sipped 2 fingers of Elmer T. Lee over a rock and I squint hard enough, I've begun to see a little bit of Lange & Sohne in it...

Thinking of getting a JLC...
I needok so I don't actually need, but you know what I mean, lolto get a new watch.I like classy but understated watchestending more dressy than sporty but something versatile to be suitable for both formal & casual settings. I was going to get either the Rolex gmtiic or a Grand Seiko (like the SBGW001). But after procrastinating & looking around the web I am distracted by the JLC Master Control (in SS) , which seems to be around within my budget of a few grand.1) Are JLC considered an understated or ostentatious brand? In terms of brand prestige, is it as respected as Rolex?2) What kind of discount can I expect with JLC? Reasonably generous or minimal? (I would be buying new from an AD of course. I could pay cash if that would get me a better discount.)3) What are typical servicing costs for JLC? Can any reputable independent watchmaker service them, or must they go back to an authorized JLC service facility?4) Is the display back crystal sapphire or mineral? It would be a dea

It was a great pleasure meeting up with our new forum friend Roger (aka Conkers) over a short but pleasant afternoon tea in Orchard Road. You may have already known him as an avid watch collector with some very exquisite AP, PP & RM pieces in his stable. He has also shared that he's working out deals on some very special APs... I won't tell you much here, but all I can say is to stay tuned... we might see something really 25721 vs PT44The PT44 ROO is really a handsome watch! Our meeting ended with a quick visit to the AP boutique nearby... and there we saw a few LE like MS & SB. Great meeting, Roger! See you in HK next week!

Breitling USA - Great service
A month ago I found my Breitling Colt Chronograph II dead in my watch locker. For those of you who don't know this watch is a Super Quartz movement. It's very accurate. I use this piece to set all my other watches. I found it dead when I went to set a watch. Anyway, I took it to the AD. I couldn't remeber when I bought it but I knew it wasn't that old. The AD checked with Breitling and sure enough it was 2 years and 4 weeks old. That's four weeks past the warranty. I was going to have the AD replace the battery, gaskets, preasure check it and be done. But the AD suggested I send it to Breitling USA. Saying that they could end up fixing the watch free because it was so close to the warranty. The AD sent it to them and it came back yesterday. Sure enough BUSA fixed it and did a full service, plus they polished and brushed the surfaces. The watch runs and looks great. I can't be happier.Great service like that is why I go with a particular company and in this case I am very happy. Good Jo
