I am pulling together all of the information and advertising that I can locate on the Illinois Consul for an upcoming NAWCC article. I have a few new theories that I need additional data to substantiate or rule out. Question about movements and quality of "everyday" watches...
I have learned a lot from reading threads here, and found the pecking order to be particularly useful.My current goal is an Omega 2220.80, but I am also in need of a few more "everyday" pieces as well for work, etc Black and Orange Monsters are on my list, and I have also been reading about the Invictas - it seems that they represent a great value as well.So my question in looking at Invictas (or other brands), is should I be looking at the specific movement type as an indicator of overall quality? In other words, does a $80-$200 Invicta (etc) represent a good quality piece for the money, or should I spend additional money to get a better movement in the same brand?Example - there is an Invicta model 3915 on a site for $75 on salethe movement is a Swiss 8172 Quartz would that make this a good deal (and is this a quality movement?) Or, should I be asking if there are any movements in current production that I should avoid?Hope this makes sense - I only used Invicta in my example bec

Vintage Omega Bracelet question
Hi folksHope some here with deep experience can help answer a question on whether I can get a replacement bracelet to work with my old Omega Automatic.First, the case number is 166.070, polished stainless, and the lugs are sized for 18mm end links.The original bracelet is no longer made and I've exchanged email with Bob Frei to choose a suitable replacement. I'm looking at the Omega Bead of Rice bracelet model 3010 but there are 3 different end links (511, 512, 514) they offer for that one. Even Bob is stumped on which would work.
