Vintage Watch Bands are Cool...Really!
Here at WTF we all dig watches, and lots of us are into the oldies.But back in the 1930s-1960s in addition to making some great watches, the USA was the king of watchband production.There were many different brands and lots of designs. Watch companies paid close attention to the style and pattern of bands that were fitted as "original equipment" to their watches.When a watch was purchased new, the metal band was often an upgrade, so some folks went with a strap to save a few bucks.Eventually the strap wore out and had to be replaced, and I'll bet that more than a few people realized they might have been better off with the metal band from the start.The good bands weren't inexpensive. In 1950 a gallon of gasoline was 18 cents, car was ~$1500, the average yearly income was ~$3200, a new house was ~$8500, and a quality expansion could cost up to $15 or more.These top-shelf expanding-bracelets are amazing examples of mid-century manufacturing, made of precision stampings of stainless steel

my automatic wont stay winding
if you read my last post about my second hand falling off on my lucien piccard then you'll love this. I recieved my replacement watch FINALLY, and now it won't stay running. I've had it on my wrist for quite some time now and have set the time and re-set the time and re-set the time, only to have it go for about a minute then the automatic gear just stops!! Is it junk or am I missing something?? The manual didn't say i had to wind it, so what am I missing here!!?? its a lucien piccard 26560sssl

Yes, I¡¯m thinking to flip my Rolexes for an Aquanaut 5167 Really love the look especially on brown or military green rubber strap.I have a few second thoughts though about commencing the search.Currently have a 1016 from ¡®87 and a polar Explorer II from 2000. I¡¯m really looking forward to input from all Aquanaut owners or past owners. I¡¯m concerned about the following.1.) Obviously the service process is complicated and probably a lot more expensive than with Rolex. What is the average cost and how often maintenance is required?2.) Looking at my Rolexes I can comfortably say they¡¯re both true daily beaters, especially the Ex II. Can you place an Aquanaut into the same arena of usage, ruggedness and durability?3.) what do you think of versatility of the watch. I can assure you that the 1016 goes with literally any attire for any occasion. Do you feel that the 5167 can be dressed up or down just easily?4.) 1016 is a very sought after vintage piece that if I flip with my Ex II together fo
