MB&F take Horological Machine No. 2 to a stunning new visual level with the limited SV edition. SV means Sapphire Vision, and only 25 will be produced. The case consists of sapphire crystals mounted on a titanium back. The left dial displays the date via a retrograde display as well as a bi-hemisphere moon phase, while the right conveys the time via jumping hours and concentric retrograde minutes. The movement is a Jean-Marc Wiederrecht/Agenhor-designed automatic powered by a Girard-Perregaux 22kt blued-gold winding rotor and gear train. The case measures 59mm x 38mm x 13mm and consists of 102 parts. Overall the piece contains 349 components, including 44 jewels.

Zalium, a zirconium-aluminum alloy, is very hard, strong, and highly resistant to corrosion, although it's difficult to machine, and in general, Harry Winston has held it in reserve over the last 15 years for special projects. Since 2004, there have been nine Project Z timepieces – limited series, with complications – with the last, Project Z8, in 2014. That was a self-winding, dual-time wristwatch with a retrograde second time-zone hand. Elgin wristwatch - 1889?
I didn't think they made wristwatches in 1889! Just pocket watches.Pick this up a few weeks ago on e-bay:I don't normally collect watches of this period and style, but I like the dial. I think it is porcelain and has yellowed with time. Also has a few hairline cracks visible in photo but can't really see them in person. Runs fine and keeps great time. Cost $84.12. Movement SN is 3575506 which dates it to 1889 according to the Elgin on-line datebase. Also says movement is grade "110", O size, and 11 jewels. 4,000 grade 110 movements were made between 1888 and 1895.Photo doesn't do the guilloch¨¦ treatment on the movement justice. Much nicer in person.My question is about the case. As you can see below, the case-back says "Illinois Watch Case Co" and below it "Spartan":Did Illinois make a case that was used by Elgin? If so, does anyone know what material the case would be? Judging from the wear on the case back, I'd say Chromium or Nickel:Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I turned in my watch the week of Thanksgiving for a pulled crown/stem. Came back yesterday at my AD. So far everything looks good. According to the invoice, they did an intermediate service, replaced 2 gaskets, quality control, movement adjustment and pressure test. I also got some free stuff from BUSA. I don't see any new scratches or any evidence of mishandling. I'd have to say, I'm very happy for the service and quick turn around. No horror story in my case.

What to buy? Here we go again! LOL
Okay guys, I may be selling a watch to pay some bills, but I'm hoping to replace it with something to fill the void! I'm looking for a diver, but would probably consider another watch if it was water resistant. Here are two choices that I am considering, pictures for Enzo! Let me know what you think of these two and possibly any others that you feel would be an option. Both of these watches are under $600 and that's about my limit.Thanks for any and all comments.
