Piaget 15978 wrist watches news:
Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux released a special, limited-edition model of its Sea Hawk Pro 1000m divers’ watch at a special event at New York’s Museum of Modern Art on June 5. Hosted by environmental conservationists Susan and David Rockefeller, Jr., the evening’s highlight was the New York premiere screening of Mission of Mermaids, Susan Rockefeller’s new documentary about protecting the oceans. Read more for event photos and specs and pricing for the watch. The event, held in celebration of World Oceans Day, was emceed by Italian actress Jo Champa, who also moderated a Q&A session with the Rockefellers after the screening of the 15-minute film, which explored the issues of ocean acidification, overfishing and pollution through the eyes of a fictional mermaid character. Susan Rockefeller revealed that much of the project, which she made to support the work of Oceana, a global nonprofit group dedicated to ocean protection, was pieced together from existi
Review: Swatch Automatic Chronograph"The story (some of this my be apocryphal, I'm not sure) is that Swatch/ETA/Tissot decided to see if they could make an automatic chronograph movement that was cheaper to produce than the 7750 and its variants. They then looked to the historically robust but utilitarian Lemania 5100 (plain in design, but has a loyal following) as a potential starting point. The 5100 was known for three things: reliability, generous use of nylon/plastic parts, and a centrally-mounted minute counter for the chrono. This new movement does away with the central minutes counter, it likely has a healthy does of plastic parts, and we don't yet know about the reliability. See what Jorge from TZ posted about the movement's background. The chronograph minutes register moves slowly along with the seconds counter. It is not instantaneous, or even "semi-instantaneous" as some movements are (e.g. the manual wind chrono in my Speedy Pro)....Well remember the Omega Hour Vision that w
As some of you may know, I am a die hard PP collector/enthusiast. That's not to say I don't appreciate other brands...it's just simply where I choose to put my horological investment. So that being said, let me confess, it takes something pretty special from AP to really get my motor running. Over the years there's been a number of these special pieces from Le Brassus I have pined for...but until recently never acted upon. Back in the spring when I saw the press release for the Royal Oak chronograph QEII Cup limited edition, I thought to myself I have to have one! So after months of searching, hours spent surfing, etc...I finally have one. Let me just say the search was worth it in the end, this piece is truly amazing.Upon opening the box and seeing the watch for the first time, I immediately noticed how the metal had a somewhat of a muted grey-hue to it that clearly distinguished it from stainless steel. Also what stood out to me was the fact that the different finishes on the case ha
Just stunning... Thanks Gerald!Enjoy :)Wael
Hi all,Was already considering a Patek 3940 vs an ALS Sax Annual Calendar.. Now am thinking of a Worldtime 5110 as well (prefer the older 36mm iteration)Which would you prefer between the 3940 and the 5110? Both use the 240 micro-rotor calibre, and this is particularly pertinent as I prefer not to have the same base movement in two diffferent pieces in my collecvtion. Would probably be considering the White Gold version in both pieces.
