Some thoughts on the latest Rolex offerings at Basel
While we saw an unprecedented number of new and revamped models from Rolex at Basel (while seemingly little to no mention of their anniversary in any of the intel we've seen coming from Basel in the last 24-48 hrs.) I think the majority of collectors will be interested in the new Deep Sea variant of the Sea-Dweller, the new all gold Submariner models, and the 41mm Presidential.Obviously these comments are made without having actually held or tried on any of these watches...which can often change my mind when I get the opportunity to do so. The first comment that I'll make is how surprised I am that Rolex is seemingly reacting in a big way to changes in the marketplace. I'll go so far as to say that one could speculate, as I am, that Rolex is reacting to the success which two brands in particular have had over the past 2-5 years: Breitling, and perhaps to a lesser extent, Panerai. Used Rolex v Omega v Lum-Tec
Ok, this is my first post & I have a wide range of options. I'm considering buying myself a watch early next year as a reward for a good year. This will be my first real watch. I plan on wearing it daily and keeping it for a long time. I have a suit & tie job. I really like the Omega Seamaster 300m in black. My dad got a seamaster for college graduation & wore it every day until he retired. I'm also considering a used Rolex Submariner 11610. Its classic, rugged & should hold its value. I kinda feel like if I don't suck it up and buy one now, I'll end up getting one later. I really like the Lum-Tec M series and the V1. From what I've read, the quality is there. They look pretty big to be a daily wearer, though. I live in Houston & I think I could get a 25-40% discount on the Omega. There are a lot or dealers, so I think I could negotiate a pretty good deal on a Rolex too. I can afford the Omega relatively easily but 4-5k on a submariner would be a stretch. I like the

Curious if you wear your Panerai everyday or just for dress? I ask because I was asked that question while at a AD. I indicated everyday ..... Daily driver for me not just for dress up. What about you guys? I assume the watch is durable enough?Thanks
