Zenith 18.2070.4054/02.C711 wrist watches news:
On November 12, 2012, the watch collecting community watched in wonder as two of the world's most important Patek Philippe wristwatches went under the hammer at Christie's Geneva: a reference 2499 perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum?offered for sale by Eric Clapton (one of two white metal 2499s ever made, with the other belonging to Patek Philippe)?and a reference 2458 that was made especially for Joe Ben Champion, Jr. housing a movement that placed third in the 1948 Geneva Observatory competition. Each would have been the cover lot for any just about any other watch auction, but it just so happened that they were part of the same sale. On paper, many would have assumed that the Clapton 2499 would sell for more than the Champion 2458 ¨C but many would have been wrong. Champion's 2458 was the champion of the sale, bringing in over $4 million. The winner of the watch? Alfredo Paramico, who has since sold it. I am in the market for one to compliment my Lum Tec M20 which has a carbon fiber dial. I have 2 questions:1. Who makes an authentic carbon fiber, high quality strap. I don't want any cheap imitations here or some kind of material made to look like CF.2. Most of the "authentic" carbon fiber straps I've seen look like thatched black leather and don't have the nice, black and gray contrasting shades that the dial and real carbon fiber has. Are these actually fake? For example:5ba0adf9.jpg466213543_1ea8f65b6a_o.jpgPlease educate me on CF :)
Just got my 2tone chronomat back from the AD - after 2 1/2 painfull weeks without it. I sent it in for a full service and polishing so apparently they changed all the gaskets, springs, and i'm pretty sure the bezel as well. I just wanted to share some pics because it looks absolutely stunning. It looks like a brand new watch!
just picked up a new corum bubble on the bay.i started to realize how much i do like the very heavy crystals. i have a locman latin lover and a couple of other heavy thick crystals....is there anyone else who enjoys them and what kind of watch would it be????
I've been agonizing over upsizing. The choices were a 372 or a 449 because I like their historic references and clean looks. I started with 40mm and worked my way up to 44's and 45's. Maybe when I've worn this awhile I'll want to go up again? Funny how the blue is so light sensitive.
