$3100 Service Fee -- HELP!!!
I have a stainless steel bracelet Luminor Marina and it stopped running. I forgot the model number but it's this one i.imgur/bDgN6.jpgI sent it to Panerai and they called me back yesterday and said I will need a $500 movement service but also will need a BRAND NEW CASE. They said there's a dent at the 1 o'clock area and is pushing a bolt in. A new case is $2600!!! I couldn't believe it. Is there a way around this or any other way to fix it? Any help appreciated!!

A visit to the Patek Salon and some interesting tid-bits
Hi everyone, thought I might share my experience of today's visit to PP's Salon at Tiffany in NYC. As some of you may know I'm trying to decide between the 5146G and J. The Salon had both, I'm happy to report, and I was able to spend some quality time with both of them. I proudly wore my 5130G which served as a very adequate carte de visite and got along like a house on fire with the very amiable and knowledgeable sales person. I DID NOT KNOW that Tiffany's PPs were branded as such on the dial (of course they are! you are probably saying). Now I like to think I have an incredible eye for detail; however, it is so subtly done that I missed it until told that it was there. I was also told that the complications now have it too thanks to the lobbying of T&CO (et al). Furthermore, in trying to decide to between the two I asked if there was any difference in the hardness of the J vs. the G. I assumed that because the G is plated with rhodium it would be harder. Sorry for my absence from the forum for a bit - was traveling for work. But it did pose an interesting opportunity for thought.I was traveling in Brazil and stole away for a night in Rio. Being a fan of music, I found a bar playing Bossa Nova in Ipanema. I was sitting there, by myself, people watching and listening to the set when I noticed a gentleman and his wife sitting a couple of tables over. He had a bottle of Johnny Walker and what appeared to be a nice watch.So, I had the thought - have you ever looked at a person, surveyed the situation and thought - "sure, I'd trade even up." You can't know what they are wearing though. It was low light, I couldn't tell what he was wearing - maybe a Timex and maybe a JLC - but the demeanor, dress, etc. I thought an interesting game (FWIW, I was wearing my Hamilton Field Chrono).Interesting thoughts over an adult beverage in a great city...B

I heard Panerai wear big...but this is just ridiculous!
