Alpina Celebrates Sebring Partnership With 12 Hours of Sebring Automatic Chrono GMT
After a successful cooperation in 2009, Alpina Gen¨¨ve and Sebring International Raceway will unite again this year for the 58th edition of the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring race with Alpina serving as Official Timekeeper for the event, scheduled for March 17-20 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida. To celebrate the partnership, Alpina will introduce a new limited edition: the Alpina 12 Hours of Sebring Automatic Chrono GMT. This timepiece is also the first edition within the new Alpina Racing Collection. With a generous diameter of 47mm, the matte black stainless steel watch features a black dial with red and silver elements. The raised white and luminous indexes ensure visibility, even during the nighttime hours of the race. The chronograph features a 12-hour counter in the lower half of the dial. In 2004, TAG Heuer created the revolutionary Monaco V4 Concept Watch. Inspired by the brand¡¯s motor racing heritage (the watch¡¯s name comes from the racing-engine-like V-formation of the movement¡¯s four barrels), the V4 uses ball bearings and is belt-driven ¨C a totally new type of watch movement. The Monaco V4 is the first mechanical watch movement to replace traditional pinions with driving belts. The pinions of the traditional mechanical movement have been replaced with a relay of five driving belts whose tension is controlled by turnbuckles. SS vs TT
Any thoughts on SS vs TT in Rolexes? Personnally, I tend to think that most watches, particularly Rolex watches, that look good in steel would look better with a little gold. Not just for the bling, just because it looks better to me! One specific example is the Daytona, which I think looks like an overused faddish fashionista bling-bling status symbol in SS, where the TT, again, it's only my opinion, looks classier, and a less peer-pressure induced purchase. What do yall think?J
