Any Rolex watches you've sold and remember fondly? Perhaps even miss?I find myself fondly thinking about my old Explorer II - it was a Y series and the first brand new Rolex I've ever purchased. I liked it a lot and the only reason I sold it was due to the fact that my white Daytona stole all the wrist time and squarely filled the need for a white dial watch. 3940/5140 vs. 5970/5270 Comparison..
I have been contemplating a perpetual calendar (5140) to compliment my perpetual calendar chronograph (5270). After doing extensive research I have noticed when comparing the perpetual calendars to their chronograph parallel the value just has not been there in the previous references which tells me maybe not to purchase the current 5140 if I were to go long for the future.. Looking at previous perpetual references.. the 3940 and prior has not done nearly as well as the 5970.. 3970 etc. The perpetual calendar chrono's mostly hold their retail value and or increase versus the 3940 etc.. which one can find at significant discounts below retail.. I know one is a chrono and the other is not.. but is there any other reason to this madness?
