Seiko "Frecce Tricolori"
I have always been a fan of one watch built by Seiko for their pilots of the Japanese Ailrines. I don't know the model number but I have always known it as the Seiko ANA. This is a pilot type watch with the 7s movement, 39mm case with a coin edge bezel. It is a limited production item but it comes up once in a while on the Watch sales forums.This has been affordably priced but still a little over my budget. At 39mm it is also a little small for my wrist, at least being a pilot type watch. So I decided to make my own, similar in overall design but denitely different and one of a kind. This could be a watch dedicated to The Frecce Tricolori, (Italian, literally Tricolour Arrows), officially known as the 313¡ã Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico, is the aerobatic demonstration team of the Italian Aeronautica Militare based by my original home town.For the base watch I chose the Seiko SARZ005 because it is about 42 mm and larger then most regular Seiko watches. 1969 Speedy - Opinions Please
Whilst my Grail watch would be a 1967 Speedy, I'm also looking for a 1969 and yesterday came across this one and wanted your opinions please.It's post moon, just and hence has what is apparently a rarer case back as I've pictured below. The dealer tells me it's totally original and I have to say that under a loupe it does look very convincing although I've a feeling the hands may have been relumed or changed but a long time ago.I'm also confused as to whether or not it should have the dot above to 90 or not? Help deciding on which Milgauss
I'm looking to purchase my first Rolex and am drawn to the Milgauss for a variety of reasons even though it is not usually the most popular choice especially as a first Rolex watch. I was fortunate enough that my local AD had both the blue and black dial in stock, so I was able to compare the two. I'm still debating between blue or black dial, but am slightly leaning towards the black dial GV. This is where my question comes in. What are your thoughts on the original style black dial GV with the dual color lume vs. the new style black dial GV with the single color lume. Also, does anyone happen to have seen both and have an opinion on brightness and longevity of each?Finally, I realize that the dual-color lume would require buying second hand as it is no longer made. I'm guessing that since it is pushing 10 years old, it would be due for a servicing immediately upon buying unless I was fortunate enough to find one that just got serviced? Any difference in buying M/V/G/Random serial?
