My Father's Vintage Hamilton
Hello AllI just came back from my jeweler with my father¡¯s vintage Hamilton and wanted to share a story and some pictures with you. As the story goes, the watch was originally given to my grandfather by my grandmother as an anniversary gift in the early 1930's. (We are not sure of the exact date as no one can remember that far back) After my grandfather¡¯s death, it was passed down to my father, who wore it everyday for many many years until his death in 2002, when it was then passed down to me. I have keep this watch under lock and key untouched since then but recently decided to have the watch serviced/restored. We replaced the crystal and strap, serviced the movement, and polished the case. I left the dial and hands as is, as I thought it would give the watch a more authentic look. I think it came out great, but I am also interested in your thoughts as well. After doing some research we believe this model to be the "Hamilton Cushion - Engraved". Undecided.... Grail Hunt
Hi guys. Ok, as alway I need your advice in what would be a better decision. I like movements and PP drive me nuts in a good way in that area. Currently my focus has been set solely on the 5712 in either ss or Rose Gold. Lately , I came across the Patek 5205 (either grey of black) which has a similar dial to the PP 5626. So, what do you guys think? What is the model to go for? Is the 5712 out shined by the 5205? Or, is the 5726 the way to go between those 4? Movement wise, are the 5205 and the 5726 the same? I know the 5712 movement is a beauty with the micro rotor but the 5626 is also great. All that said, thoughts? Knowledge? Words of wisdom? Here are some pics of the models from the Internet. What does the Air-King 119600 portend for the future of the Milgauss?
Although the Air-King's bracelet lacks polished links and a welded crown on the clasp, the Air-King sports the same movement and double case as the Milgauss. But for $2,000 less.My question is: what does this mean for the future of the Milgauss? How will Rolex keep interest in the Milgauss at a $2,000 higher price point.My own guess is that Rolex will eventually introduce an improved movement to Milguass, but not on the Air-King.Thoughts?
