Ulysse Nardin 320-90b/91 wrist watches news:
Linde Werdelin has announced three new entries into the SpidoLite II family of limited edition sport watches. The new SpidoLite II Titanium releases include Red, Blue or Black Gold versions which offer you a choice of either bright colors or a modern take on the two-tone aesthetic. The SpidoLite series, like the SpidoSpeed, exhibit many of the signature elements that have helped Linde Werdelin build a loyal following, including the skeletonized case structure, detailed dial design, and a wrist presence that is all on its own.The Red, Blue and Black Gold versions of the SpidoLite II Titanium are 44 mm wide and 15 mm thick and directly in line with the rest of the LW lineup, which is comprised of mostly larger watches. They feature a 19 piece case which is made entirely of titanium that has been treated to a blasted finish before having its edges and accents satin finished. The effect is fantastic and really highlights the darker tones present in the bare titanium of the Blue and Red vers
If you are one of the lucky people who is going to be at Basel, you can join me and many others, at the book signing of the new book on watch makers, "12 Faces Of Time." The special event will see some of today's best watch makers together. The book features and profiles them, discussing them and their work. While each of the watch makers is different, they are each easily in the genius category. This is probably one of your only chances to see them all together. Watch makers aren't know to be the most social people, but ask them the right questions, and they open up like a crack in the Hoover Dam. Watch makers are also known to sometimes be notoriously competitive, so I wonder if a "best watch maker" fight will ensue. "5 Microns?!! PsssshhhTry 4 Microns!" That would certainly be cause for attendance. I can just see them signing my book with ever larger signatures trying to one up each other.Among the watch makers attending there is no one or two headliners, each of these guys is amazi
While an adoring fan of Citizen's Campanola line of watches, I must pay attention to the bread and butter of Citizen, which their more mainstream line of watches. During the last few years, they are been evolving the application of their Eco-Drive (light powered) movements by placing them into a classy watches suitable for everyday wear. Not everyone wants a sports watch to wear to formal events, and does not want to shell out thousands for a formal watch. This leaves a large market open for nice, but sub $1000 (sub $500 in this case) watches. The Citizen Calibre line is a good idea. Citizen takes design cues and complications from popular luxury watches and mixes them in a no-hassle attractive design. The result has been a steam of attractively conservative watches that require no battery and are easy to live with. I fact, Citizen watches are much like Toyota cars (Toyota Sussex), both Japanese, and both something you can live with everyday. They might not exude passion or stand out as
Lots of purchases lately. I do vicariously enjoy reading about someone's latest catch and seeing the pictures. So what has caught your eye lately? Anything coming your way?
As you will see from my recently created vintage Patek Philippe watches, I am considering getting on and after watching such sites as Chrono24, I find that there are quite a few vintage Pateks that are reasonably priced, and for a few thousand British pounds, gets you a watch from one of the top brands in the world. This started other questions bouncing around in my head. Lets classify a vintage piece of being at least 40 years old1) Would a vintage Patek Philippe have required more personal involvement -handmade then a modern piece?2) Would a vintage piece require more frequent servicing then a modern watch?3) Is servicing costs of a modern piece cheaper then a vintage watch? 4) What other pros & cons should you consider before choosing vintage or modern? Please dip in with your own thoughts?
