What should I do with this Cal. 343?
This is the watch in question and I have a few concerns.First of all the "Chronometer Officially Certified" text is bolder than the "Omega Automatic" text, and the fonts do not match each other. Also concerned about the spelling of Chronometer. My guess is that part of the text has been redone.Here is another example of a Chronometre that I own.Another thing is this dent or gouge, I don't think it can be polished out. I have also been told that it's been re-cased.The movement runs, but it could use a cleaning. The RG regulator is also missing, so I would need to replace that.The thing is part of me wants to keep it and restore it, but I know I could use that money somewhere else, like to restore my 352. But then again you don't see a 343 everyday, however it is a franken watch. It actually looks nice in the sun and I know it would look nice when the dial is restored and those rose gold markers and hands are polished. I was staring at probably one of only a few SeaDweller left at the Gray market store at a mall in downtown area.. and the guy was quite knowledgeable , he explained the SD rarity nowadays ( of course after replaced by Giant DSSD). It is brand new in box complete with all papers and he was kind enough to let me tried it on my wrist. I didn't know that SD was this gorgeous,,,,,,Gosh, you guys really need to have personaly experiencing it , IT IS a super beautiful watch .. in the meantime, I've also been eyeing on the PAM 113 as this had been on my top wish list for quite a while. the white dial of this PAM is showing a distinguish top class watch look...I feel that both are super gorgeous watches and I probably could only afford to purchase only one in the near future. My latest eBay purchase.
For a total cost of $9.50 I grabbed this vintage Timex. The seller's description said it was a 1970's, but also that it said 'U.S. Time Corporation' on the back. It looked older than 70's so I did a little research and determined it was older, pre 1960, so I took a chance on it. It appeared to be in decent shape from the auction picture and the seller described it as "very collectible", but neglected to state the crack in the crystal above the 12 and the shape of the back. The back looks as if part of the metal is missing (the auction didn't have a picture of the back). This is my first vintage purchase from eBay, so I suppose I'll learn to be more critical in the future. It seems to be running good and winds ok, but I'm sure it will need to be cleaned. I'm a little concerned about the back, but for $9.50 I don't think it was a bad deal.Would this be considered a Timex Marlin? By the way, it does say 'Made in U.S.A.' under the 6.Here's the back. Could someone with more knowledge sugges
